Yaya has never played 90 minutes in the hole. He pushes forwards later in the game when possible. Right now the lack of midfielders means he can't. We are under-performing at the moment simply because we don't have a proper midfield. We need at least one more of Javi/Milner/Rodwell to be playing for yaya to move forward. As long as only he and Barry are available we cannot allow him to play further forward.

Nige was a bit part player for the entire season, and Yaya played alongside Barry in central midfield.

You could have just as easily said he played central mid, as throughout the first season, as in this, he's played a measure of all midfield spine positions.

For the whole of the 10-11 season he played as the advanced central midfielder in a 4-2-3-1.

Last season he played about 3/4 of the season as one of the holding players but we mainly used the 4-2-2-2. When we did go 4-2-3-1 he took the advanced role.

This season he's played about 50/50 Holding and Advanced, in all sorts of formations,

Yaya was fucking awful yesterday.A total passenger who appears to be totally disinterested and playing for a move.His petulance at times on the pitch and his attitude twds his team mates makes my blood boil.

Love the guy but he needs to start performing

At his age his petulance is rather ugly to see.
Maybe he tries to send the club a message: he wants an extension or else.

I don't believe Yaya is the man to play in the hole, I think he's more effective coming from deep when he gathers pace and counter attacks.
What baffles me is when Silva's out why doesn't he play Nasri in the hole instead of keeping him wide where he's non effective?........the game just passes him by and it's like having ten men at times.

I agree, Yaya is not #10. He is not best at being a playmaker playing behind a striker in 4-2-3-1. Nor is Nasri #10. Nasri is small as well.
