Setanta crisis: US-based Blues opinions?

shit service from a shit company, hope they go bust

It's not shit in the U.S., it's great value for money, and we're talking about the U.S. end of things.

The competition and choice Setanta offered is good for us, especially if you like more than just football and want to avoid the wank that is MLS and below. If all we have (again) is FSC (which means no Rugby or anything else) it's going to be pretty drab. People laugh at Setanta's amateurish presenters, but FFS, FSC takes the biscuit. With both FSC and Setanta we get every single game, every week. What I'm concerned about is that if FSC continue with their arse-kissing of the MLS, we will have much less good stuff, as there are only 24 hours in a day and much they'll drop / won't pick up just for the sake of the MLS and related programming. What I'm getting at here is Setanta is good if you want to avoid all things American "soccer" related.

Now, if you're telling me that FSC will carry every single City game, fine, I can live with no rugby etc I suppose, but I doubt they will, whereas with both FSC and Setanta, I don't think between them a City game wasn't on at some point during the week. There'll be less of the foreign leagues we all like as well.

What he said.

I thought I recently read somewhere that FSC picked up even more of Setanta's share of PL games. Not bothered if Setanta goes under if that is the case.

I can't figure it out. I know Sky did, and you'd think that would translate to FSC, but over the last couple of years, trying to reconcile what they say they are going to show, with their schedules, and what they actually put on is the stuff of a Master's thesis. Setanta are going on about having over 130 PL matches next season, but WTF does that mean? Live first showings, delayed or what? LOL, will it even matter? If Setanta go bust, and FSC would just say, "we'll be showing every single PL game during a given week", problem solved. They can even charge me more! Fair enough.

It's bad enough being over here when we finally come good (typical Cityfanitis), but perhaps not being able to watch them every game is doing my head in. I've never been so keyed-up for a new season. There's always shady though, and it is good to watch games on the forum, in fact sometimes I'll be watching the TV and on the match day forum.

I know there are some Blues involved in media, and I wondered if they had any idea about the future, or whether anyone's guess is good.

My cable company doesn't carry Setanta here in the US, but I have the Setanta online service, it upgraded dramatically a few months ago and its fantastic. Got that on the computer and Fox Soccer on the digital cable, FSC is an absolute must now because they are getting the Champions League in a few years from ESPN!

yes he's on ESPN. His partner Derek Rae is pure class though. Pity ESPN don't pony up the money and let them call the game live, they call the game from the headquarters in Connecticut!

Its pants in the uk...i was paying £12.99 for really 1 good match a month...when i told i want to cancel they said you can have it for £7...ha still told em where to go scottish crap...

In Canada there are three channels that show EPL games:

Sportsnet shows 1 game on Saturday morning (afternoon in UK) - Almost always a "Top 4" game
The Score shows 1 game Sunday morning - Almost always a "Top 4" game
Setanta shows at least 3 games live Saturday and 2 games Sunday, with the others shown tape delayed throught the afternoon/evening. All for $15 CDN a month.

If it weren't for Setanta I'd be lucky to get more than 3 City games a year, which means resorting to shitty, unreliable feeds on my computer. Long live Setanta!

Yeah that Tommy Smyth is a real Rag ass licker!! So is that Boobby McMahon on FSC. I think he mows Fergiescums lawn!!! And that Canadian dope Jeremy St Louis is a dimwitted plastic Rag!!

Having sai all that I remember the days when the only City actio I was able to see is when I actually came over to England!!!

The good thing about FSC is that they stagger the games. One can watch 3 on the Saturday and two on the Sunday. Hell, its easy to avoid the results here!! The bad thing about when I am back in Thailand all the games are on live at the same time-doh!!!

Its a decent channel for little money in the US and doubles the games we get to see and thats without the Stenata Xtra channel, which we sometimes get our games on. The coverage from 4.00am this year of the FA Cup final was brilliant!

Personally i would miss it and hope that FSC takes up the slack, i heard that ESPN are not interested in the EPL because of the relatively low viewing figures (FFS!) but they are really pleased with the viewing figures for the Champions League this year (and in HD!!) so who knows what they will do.

Is there no way at all to get the SKY TV coverage in the US? I heard some time bakc that they had repostioned their satelite so that it was possible on their footprint now, but there were some legal/franchise reasons why they couldnt do it?

In summary, anything that takes any games off the TV here threatens the coverage our our great club for us exiled Blues - so here's hoping!!
