Yep onside if behind the ball doesn't matter if the entire defending team stands on the halfway line you cannot be off side if you are behind the ball

Yup if he was behind the ball during the pass then he was onside

Yes but when the penalty is taken the teammate is not ahead of the last defender.

It's irrelevant whether he is or not, that's the whole point.

I know, but I'm pointing out that it's not the same situation!
 
It's offside, there has to be 2 or more opposing players between the attacker and the goal-line.
