There are definitely still records to be made. There always will be.There are a few things left to do domestically.
Only four other teams have won three league titles in a row (Huddersfield, Arsenal, Liverpool, and United twice), and none have won four in a row. They are things I’d fucking love to see this club achieve.
I really want to win the CL, but I wouldn’t mind waiting until 2024-25 if we can win the next two league titles.
Saying that, why not fucking win the CL along with the Prem?!
But we’ve entered the realm of diminishing returns. Winning three, or four in a row is not going to significantly improve our global stature. And the club needs that type of improvement to continue growing and capturing fans outside of us FOCs. Even in England, it is needed to capture the fans, as much as that makes many of us uncomfortable.
We can’t both demand continued dominance and reject the means with which that dominance can be continued.
I know we all want to be able to be the best club in the world for generations to come by being a solely local club, but it just doesn’t work that way. It hasn’t for quite some time.
The reality is the club need the team to win the CL.
That is what we’ll take us to the very top echelon, whether we like it or not.
