Is there any Blue out there who can lay claim to have been at the two legendary Sex Pistols gigs at the Lesser Free Trade Hall in the summer of 1976? The first one was the "Big Bang" for the entire modern day Manchester music scene. I think most of the audience have been accounted for as time as gone by. Hook, Sumner, Morrisey, Shelley, Devoto, Wilson, Smith etc.

I would love to know what it was really like to have been at one of these two gigs, especially the first one. Legend has it there were only forty two there at that one, although it's disputed. Certainly a good number were blues.

FActory, New Order, Spike island, Madchester, The Smiths, the Hacienda....it all started here

My mate deffo was...he was the drummer in Slaughter and the dogs who was on the same bill. Told me some cracking stories about the whole era.

Jonathon Ross once said in a documentary that Slaughter were his favourite band at the time.

Personally, I thought they were crap, but good on them for getting as far as they did.

They played the second one, didn't they, and stood out because they weren't punks.

Ahh yes, "Where have all the boot boys gone!!"
I had that on a 12" single

Pretty sure Tony Wilson only went to the second one. There's a good account of both in Paul Morley's The North.

They are still going apparently, minus two of the original members.
Believe it or not, they still have quite a big fan base.

Missed those gigs. But saw Pistols. Clash and Damned at Electric Circus...

Dave I was just about to say I was too young to go to those Pistol gigs but we lived in Collyhurst Flats and I always remember going to the shops with my mam and she would cross the road to avoid the punks hanging outside the Electric Circus LOL!

I remember seeing an old black and white clip of Siouxsie and I'm sure it was filmed at the Electric Circus and someboidy spat at her and it hit her full on right on her eyebrow and it began to dangle right over her eye and she didn't fucking flinch a muscle but just stood there and sang the whole of the song. Sure it was some old clip about the Circus with Tony Wilson but I can't find the clip anywhere. Maybe I dreamt it HAHA.
