Sgt Alexander Blackman

Well you know what they say... "Black Man doesn't have no place in the White Man's army"

Ooh what a film Boyz N The Hood is

Joking aside, I agree with the charge and it is a testament to our law. The Taliban Soldier was not defending himself and was held captive.
However we all know if the roles were reversed the Taliban Twat would've been torturing the British Soldier and eventually chopping his head off.
And being rewarded with a load of virgins by Allah.

Ridiculous to try and justify his actions. He knew full well he was breaking the law. It wasn't his decision to make and if you let someone off lightly, especially for committing murder, you set a dangerous precedent. Unfortunately he's been let down by the Army, they should offer much more psychological support and pull anyone who falls short of a very high standard. But at the end of the day, the person he killed, as brainwashed as he might have been, was denied a fair trial. Marine A took a role as judge jury and executioner when he had no right to.

Completely agree that Blair should be behind bars. The man is as crooked as they come and a real stain on this country.

He deserves to go to prison as
The way this soldier has been treated is nothing short of shameful. He had been sent there to do a job, and take out the Taliban. The man he killed was part of the Taliban, the very people who have been trying to kill him and his friends every day. War does strange things to people, and you can't expect people to act rationally when in war zone and in the state of mind you end up with.

If anyone should be in jail for the death of actual innocents in Afghanistan it should be Blair. These politicians sit in their ivory towers sending men off to war, and then dictating to them how they should act when everyone knows for a fact most of them woulndn't even have the balls to go anywhere near a fight never mind a war zone.

Expected to be released in two weeks. Shame it's not immediately but good news anyway.

Very good news. Reading some of the comments on here really shows the amount of naivety folk have regarding warfare,
and particularly, actions against terrorists. Sgt Blackman and his troop were in an isolated outpost, on constant alert, and having
to patrol an area which had seen 23 soldiers killed and mutilated by the Taliban, he shot one who was on the ground, in possession
of an AK47 and a grenade. What should he have done, phoned an ambulance, or simply just left him?
I have read that the army is, understandably, reluctant to send in multi million pound equipment, at risk of SAM attacks,
to recover wounded terrorists from the middle of nowhere, in an area infested with murderous insurgents.
If he'd simply walked past him and left him to squirm to death, nothing more would have been said.

This bit is interesting

The Lord Chief Justice Lord Thomas told him: ‘In the light of your service record and psychiatric condition there is no question of dismissal with disgrace.
‘However, given the seriousness of the offence and the damage to Her Majesty’s armed forces he must be dismissed'

That may well mean the Navy can take him back then dismiss him with a medical discharge due to PTSD with a tax free immediate pension.

Very happy for the lad should not have been locked up in the first place, our soldiers deserve more than this lad got, and all you do gooders can go and fuck yourself, if you are that bothered about his release then get over there and see what its really like to serve in that shit hole.

Good post.

Made up for the man,his family and his supporters. Its also a victory for common sense.

Well said, there are far too many who think playing C.O.D. on the x-box qualifies them to judge a bloke who gets shot at for real, nobody says he didn`t do wrong, but the circumstances are a huge mitigation.
