Shamima Begum

I refer you back to the supreme court, a court which makes the decisions based on the facts they have.

What do you think the supreme court decided?

You seem to be under the false impression the supreme court decided she was not a British citizen, when actually they decided she didn't have the right to be in the UK while fighting her citizenship case.

The Supreme Court held that Ms Begum cannot return to the UK to pursue her appeal against deprivation of her citizenship. It considered that the national security concerns raised by the Secretary of State outweigh her right to a fair and effective hearing.

There we go.

Effectively leaving her with no option but to try to win citizenship whilst not in the country.

It’s the same court that will potentially have all the facts and not deport the grooming gang members too, so he’ll do a 180 and say we’re too soft then.

It’s a strictly case by case feeling.

Yes, I know what the Supreme Court decided, you're the one who has been misrepresenting their decision as being one about her citizenship.

While we're talking about the Supreme Court perhaps we should point out they also ruled that the Home Secretary broke the parliamentary policy rules when he removed her citizenship?

Then apply to your consulate for help.
And what if they don’t?

Which brings is back around to if you were accused of a crime abroad, we’re not put on trial and kept in a prison somewhere. You apply for help from your consulate and all they do is put the phone down on you.

Then what?

I said quite clearly that the supreme court upheld the decision by not giving her citizenship back and deciding that she can't come back to claim it as yet.

Effectively removing her path to regaining it.

There are over 400 people who have lost British citizenship in the last 20 or so years, she isn't a special case.

Yes, like I thought, you don't actually understand their decision at all.

The Supreme Court did not uphold any decision by the Home Secretary regarding her citizenship, nor did they have the power to give her back her citizenship.

They simply said that although it broke the Home Secretary policy rules to not allow her to fight for her citizenship in the UK, it didn't quite break the law.
