Shamima Begum

Domalino is stuck where you are stuck.

No, I just understand a court ruling, unlike you or whatever hack news site you're quoting.

This is the actual decision from the chief justice.

The Supreme Court unanimously allows the Secretary of State’s appeals and dismisses Ms Begum’s cross-appeal. The result is that Ms Begum’s appeal against the LTE decision is dismissed, her application for judicial review of the LTE decision is dismissed, and her application for judicial review of SIAC’s preliminary determination in her appeal against the deprivation decision is dismissed.
This is what they decided.

1) Her appeal against the LTE decision is dismissed (That's her Leave to Enter deicison - can she come back to the UK).

2) She doesn't have grounds to appeal the LTE decision.

3) She can't appeal the SIAC's preliminary determination (That's the decision to revoke her citizenship) against her.

Now the 2 highlighted words are important because the reason she can't appeal the SIAC decision is the same reason Man City's first appeal to CAS was rejected - you can't appeal a decision that's not final.

In fact to quote the chief justice

Her appeal against the deprivation decision not having been finally determined, Ms Begum did not have a statutory right of appeal to the Court of Appeal.
That right there, is the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court saying that Shemima Begum's citizenship has not been finally determined.

So no, you're not right when you say she's not a British citizen. It's not a "fact".

You don't understand that she has had her citizenship removed? And that her appeal of that decision can only be made in Syria where that isn't possible?

Your pontification (Again) is noted, I ask you again that considering the tribunal announced that her citizenship removal was "Lawful" how can you then state that she hasn't had it removed?

This is an odd hill to die on.

It's not a hill to die on, it's simply understanding what the SC decided.

You keep claiming they ruled on her citizenship which is simply not true. They ruled on her ability to be in the UK while she fought the citizenship case.

They ruled she couldn't come to the UK to fight her "Deprivation" of citizenship. Appeals of any nature can go either way but as it stands she doesn't have citizenship and she isn't allowed into the country to fight it.

You're being wilfully stupid here, I asked you when she is coming back to fight her case and as yet you haven't answered that straightforward question.

Yes they ruled she couldn't come back to fight the case. No one has disputed that.

Unfortunately you also claimed they ruled on her citizenship which is false.

You're too stubborn to admit you were wrong so now you're digging a hole, pretending you meant something else and asking irrelevant questions as if they're gotcha's.

I will await her return with relish, hopefully there will be a party and everything.

Could you please update the room as to what a decision in someone's favour means without the embellishment of procrastination and semantics?

I'm sure there will be. Everyone who cares about our civil rights as British citizens and this country's standing in the world would rejoice to see reversal of the shameful and illegal decision by a disgraced conservative Home Secretary, and Britain holding Begum accountable for her crimes instead of trying to abandon its responsibilities.

The fact over 300 people accused of the same crimes as Shamima Begum have been allowed back into the UK anonymously with their British citizenship intact, while the government try to make an example of this one woman because the press found out her name tells us everything we need to know about the true motivations behind the Home Secretary's actions.

And it most certainly is nothing to do with keeping the UK safe.

You have heard of "lawyers" I assume? They're people who appear in court to fight cases, often on behalf of plaintiffs or defendants who aren't physically present in court themselves.

She's now having her case heard by a 5 day tribunal, and her lawyers are claiming she was trafficked as an under-age child.
Even though most people in this country wouldn't give her the time of day, her legal team are being very persistent in trying to bring her back to this country.
And I've no doubt her expensive lawyers fees will be paid for by the taxpayers of the very country that she professed to hate. The fucking woman !!

How long will it take?
