I grew up in Withington/Fallowfield and there were plenty of characters similar to those portrayed in Shamless. Surely if you are a City fan you'd of seen a few in the Parkside pub and the Fallowfield pub before attending games at Maine road? The actual creator and writer of Shameless Paul Abbott grew up on an estate similar to the one on Shameless. He's been quoted as saying Shameless is intended to be a bit tongue in cheek but with a dark side.
By the way I live in Oldham now,and you're seriously telling me you've never seen anything or anyone that you could liken Shameless? C'mon ?!

I'm with OOHBEBLUE on this, family is from the heart of Wythenshawe. They were a cross between the Gallaghers and Royle family !
