He has done nothing to prove that. Nothing but play a good enough season at Birmingham and not even make the bench behind two average to poor English keepers which is borderline embarrasing.

Bad decision by Capello who then rectified this in the Hungary game.

As for the season at Birmingham, he was voted the best keeper in one of the best leagues in the world. Not bad, eh?

Oh, and Given is shit at crosses, does not play enough football at the back, and, although a great shopper, not as good as Joe.

It all boils down to this: Given is not as good as Hart. The goalkeepers of the league might agree.

He made changes in a friendly. Oh dear God he's a genius. Players voted him best in the league, so he's better than Cech, VDS, Reina? He was voted it because he improved a lot, not because he is thought to be one of the best in the world. FFS, and I'm the bias one. That said, look at who else won it in the past and it's not exactly something you can stand an arguement on.

-- Mon Aug 16, 2010 1:31 am --

Clearly Capello thought otherwise. I mean his age has apparently nothing to do with it here, why would it there?

clearly as proven capello made a big balls up as i said take your blinkers off.

He made a big balls up of the tournament up front. Green made a mistake and paid for it, James well, he did enough to stay ahead of Hart.

And how many times has Given put in a display like that. Count Hart's on one had. Given has a room full I'd say. But, hey, the way people talk on here, I'm actually beginning to believe that they didn't notice. Like Is said, had any other keeper put in that display it would have been lucky to make the papers, or be mentioned on here had it been Given. But it is well clear who the City favourite is.

So the man in form got picked. Can anyone seriously argue with that?

Or maybe Joe Corrigan should be recalled, because on his day he was better than both of them? (Insert smilie of choice here)

Given has had a reasonably serious injury for a keeper, which even he didn't think would see him fit for the start of the season. He'll get his turn, I hope he's smart enough to stick around to play his share of the 60-70 games we'll play this season.

On form? From what? Because he certainly had nothing to do all summer long during the English campaign.
Given will get the odd game against nobody teams and will waste his talent and his time sitting on the bench, clearly unappreciated by management and fans alike. Why should he stay.

Oh, I don't know, pre-season, training, the sort of stuff the manager sees every day, the sort of performance we saw on Saturday.

Unless Shay's been playing for your local team and you've had a chance to see more of him than Mancini, obviously.

Shay didn't look too disappointed Saturday and he'll talk to people at the club today and tomorrow before he makes his decision, but don't be surprised if he stays.

Why should he waste his time at a club where his ability of form isn't the reason he was dropped, he's not valued by the club and 90% of the fans it seems think he should just pack up and fuck off. And people question his loyalty. Welcome to the new Man City.

So why do you think is the real reason Given is dropped? And please dont say because he's Irish!

the big different being you wont see neither of those 2 keepers in an England shirt now.

look given is a top keeper and i find it a shame that he may of lost his place but looking at the whole picture it makes sense to place hart as no.1 not just on a footballing prospective but all so on a business prospective as shit as it sounds that's life.

I think the whole Irish thing here has been too much of a distraction and more heat than light has been generated but at the end of the day the boss has a decision to make and we have to support the club.
