Shay Given to Arsenal (merged)

Re: we've agreed to let Shay Given join Arsenal

City cant win in this scenario, we have two of the best keepers around that both deserve first team football. I dont think its realistic to expect one to sit it out until January, and in ideal world it would be ideal to loan or sell one to a Celtic, or a lower premier league club, but such is the calibre of them, the top clubs will want them (Arsenal).
If Given goes to Arseanl, it'll be another stick for the press to hit City with, as he undoubtably will improve Arsenal, making them a far greater threat to what we try and do this season.
I rate Hart, I really do the only thing in the back of my mind is his age, in keeper terms he's a baby, and like any keeper playing week in week out he may hit a bad patch of form and at his age it may effect him more than say an experienced keeper, especially at this cub, as know doubt if he does go through a bad spell, we'll be linked with every keeper under the sun.
Like I said City or Mancini for that matter cant win.

Of all the games Hart has played for us, (Middlesboro aside) can anyone tell me where Hart has turned in a poor performance? A performance where he had dropped a bollock? A game where his error cost us? I can't think of one TBH.

I'm fairly sure that Swedish keeper played the 8-1 game.

Correct, Isaksson played in that game. Hart played when we lost 6:0 against Chelsea though, but that was hardly his fault.

Morning all. Too many beers last night, some people need to get out more :o)

When the axe falls there are always going to casualties. Our manager is an Italian who is looking out for the best interests of ‘his’ and ‘our’ team, he will make choices that some fans will think are wrong and won’t be happy about. I don’t think for one second that he’s dropped Given because he’s Irish or indeed picked Hart because he’s English. I think he’s had a tough choice to make and came down on the side of Hart for this match.

I don’t think that he’s thinking about 10 years down the line, I think he’s bothered about the here and now and see’s probably after deliberation with his goalkeeping coaches that for him Hart is the better option.

The king is dead, long live the king (or something like that)

correct - Isaksson, Sun, Dunne (SO), Ball, Garrido, Ireland, Fernandes, Corluka, Petrov, Vassell, Benjani - Castillo, Elano & Hamann were used subs, Hart & Caicedo were unused.

I don't understand why we would strengthen Arsenal like this.... and then on a loan which means they only pay his wages...

If they had had Given in goal yesterday they would have walked away with 3 points I believe, that's how much of a difference he makes.

Re: we've agreed to let Shay Given join Arsenal

So if this is true (and it looks like it is) I presume they're paying his wages and we're sticking a 24-hr recall clause in there. If he ends up moving on permanently who would you want City to buy as back-up to Hart?

Personally I think S.Taylor is a crock of shite, we need someone in the mould of Cudicini who is really good but happy to play as/when needed or in cup competitions. Maybe someone English who would appreciate a move here...Kirkland or Carson?

Taylor's found his best position and has made a career out of it!

Crazy stuff.

Both 'keepers could have gotten enough games, but if he had to leave, send him to Celtic, or someone crap, ffs.

Apologies if there's another thread anywhere.

I don't believe it, almost smacks of a canary_10 style rag wind up.

gunnars never pay, and if we won't sell to twitcher, why arsenal
