Shearer on Balotelli

Haha, i've defended him in the past, we need characters like him in the PL... in football in general.

He just needs to get the balance between ecentric and footballer. The novelty is just starting to wear thin as the returns are few and far between.

Saying all that i still back to come good.

thats what makes him a fantastic ally and a terrifying enemy.....his ability to live on the edge and try something unexpected.

its a fine line between madness and genius

When Shearing said that Balo has achieved nothing, it took me a couple of seconds for it to sink in and could'nt believe it. Maybe Shearer was hacked off that England had lost but to vent his frustration at Mario is not on - and innacurate.

Also - Hansen is too biased and should be off............AND he is SCOTTISH - get another Englishman on or an Italian to balance up the pundatry. They need someone more impartial...........

Thought Klinsmann was good...........

After Parker tackled Balotelli the commentator said 'Balotelli looks angrily at Scott(y) Parker' How the fuck can you tell that when the camera's over 100 yards from him? I was also half wanting Balotelli to convert his chances

Not only has Mario won 3 more titles than Shearer did in his whole career. He's also got a better scoring record than Shearer did at his age. Balotelli 55 goals in 148 games. Shearer scored 43 in 158 at Mario's age.

He might have won a lot more than Shearer already but if he doesn't sort his head out he will have nowhere near as good a career,or be as good a player.

Also during commentary Lawrenson said something like "if Balotelli's brains were petrol he wouldn't have enough to get out of the garage.."
Balotelli has more intelligence than ANYONE who genuinely thinks he's dumb - as opposed to just using it as short-hand for summing up a number of his traits. There's a difference between being intelligence and being a combination of daft, curious, frustrated and short-tempered (related to the frustration - a lot of his anger is directed at himself when he spurns a good chance).

His ability to speak two languages to beyond functional level, quick-witted comments during interviews, timing of runs and use of movement, to me suggest intelligence. I'm very confident he'd score higher in an IQ test than anyone who actually thinks he's stupid in terms of pure intelligence.

If Lawrenson doesn't have any experience of highly intelligent people who sometimes lack simple common sense, he must have had a very sheltered existence. Perhaps, given that fuck-off sized glass house that he inhabits in this paraticular field, Lawrenson should think twice about throwing stones.

He's already had a better career than Shearer ever had.

He's a legend who will be talked about in awe at two separate clubs. You'll tell your kids about Balotelli, as will Inter fans.
