Sheffield United (H) | Post-Match Thread

When I saw the changes I expected a real grind and so it proved. We got away with it just so with hindsight you can say it was a good call. If that late shot hadn't whistled past the post though we'd all.be gutted now.

Twelve straight wins, four points clear at the top, two months ago I would never have believed that possible.

Our shadow players aren't a patch on our first team but I guess that's why they're not the first team.

It would be great if the rags and dippers drop points it will give us a nice little cushion.

I said that the first goal would be extremely important, and so it was. If the opposition want to defend with a deep block until the 80th minute, even when they’re trailing, then just see the game out. They really only had one opportunity in the game, and the shot went wide. We were the better side by a mile and deservedly won the game. We’re going to come up against sides playing like this every once in a while. It’s vital that you defend well so that you give yourself the chance to score the first goal. We did that today. Can’t really ask for any more.

if this was early season we would be moaning like hell ? this is poor and we are not winning the title if we play like that would be the question. city today went back into man management mode and the result was controlled. walker was poor and never really went forward with a pass ? foden was never in the game jesus well the goal was lucky and did nothing really after it

yes i understand the result was the main target today but city could have lost 2 points with sheff utd late on with a great shot just wide. 1.0 is never enough and painful to watch city defending it. we the fans revert back into old city thinking its coming they are going to score here

one thing you take out of the game is another clean sheet 3 points and dias looked like a man mountain
but boy city should not be playing like that and its not good for the blood pressure

Felt like we made that a lot harder than we needed to.

We should be using substitutes better.

Sure we won, and some will think i am just a moaning fucker.

My point is, when you take off an attacking player,to a team that had been creating fuck all.

You are saying we are defending now for the rest of the game.

really we should have just changed Jesus who was awful.

Carried on the way we were,

Happy we won,

But that was risky by Pep,left us hanging on in a game we had dominated for 80 + minutes

we badly need a striker even on loan.

Moaning ucker.

I dont care how we played honestly. I just wanted the 3 points and we got them. We will not be able to play every game the same way we played against West Brom with us having a game every 3 to 4 days!!

Things to make out of this game for me are:

Sheffield dont deserve to be bottom!! Dunno how they are not winning enough games!

Torres could have had 3 assists, he is slowly getting there, just needs a bit more confidence

Walker is still rusty after getting COVID, needs more time

Laporte is slowly getting back to his best but still needs more minutes

A Boring win is better than an entertaining draw!

Foden just gets better and better!

On to the next game.

really boring game. i seem to just recall constant passes across the halfway line. Decent win though, clean sheet, move on!
The opponent must take their share of the blame for being so unadventurous until the last 5 minutes.
It's hard to make an exciting spectacle when moving past our halfway line gives their striker a nose bleed...

Maybe Pep is modelling his team on the wonderful AC Milan team when they were in their prime with the famous Cattenaccio defensive system. This method will improve our chances of winning this years champions league.
Praise to Pep for his amazing tactical prowess.
