Sheffield United (H) | Post-Match Thread

I think he's overrated yes and has no footballing brain, yes. But that's not to say he doesn't make decent runs. I can make decent runs.

Oh fuck, I just realised it's you. I wouldn't have wasted time replying had I realised.
No footballing brain but smart moves please put me on ignore you complete know nowt

In seasons past that would have been a draw with our inability to put the ball in the back of the net to the fore again.
Not this season.
Dias is just a fucking monster. He should pick up all the player of the Season awards by a country mile except YPOTY and that should go to Foden.

maybe last season but the 2 prior would have been a similar or better result. The mentality is getting back there but with the number of fixtures and position in the table ticking off the wins is the important thing.

Vital 3 points again but fairly lacklustre. Thought Bernardo and Dias were the pick. So many times when Zinch and Walker could have used their other feet to open play up.
Gabriel doesn't look for or tuned in to me.
Still, on we go

Nah. This is the best City defence ever.
How old is Dias? Twenty fucking three! 4 years from his prime - 6 years younger than Van Djik!

Walker was at the heart of everything we did bad today.

He never tried to create anything on his side and jammed in Torres, with only Bernie trying any form of penetration.

He gave away a stupid free kick at the end and was also at fault for the McBernie chance.

It is becoming increasingly clear that we don't need to rely on Walker's recovery pace anymore because of Dias' arrival and outstanding positional leadership.

That only exposes Walker's limitations, he can only pass inside, doesn't join up the midfield and is impetuous in tackle.

Cancelo clearly takes his position and our set-up to the next level, all the same, Pep should still be able to expect a top performance from Kyle against this standard of opponent?

Pep is obviously trying to keep players fresh but surprised he didn't bring Mahrez or Sterling on for Torres and switch the focal point of attack.

Kudos to Fern, Zin and Bernie today, they were only ones at it with Dias.

Spot on.

The foul near the end was nothing short of brain dead.

Looked well off the pace, Cancelo has to be a shoe in now.

We looked comfortable against a physical Sunday pub team yet were always vulnerable to the long punt knock on sucker punch in the last 10.

Their keeper kept them in it to the death, but on another day we could have had two penalties, the push in the back on Gabby and the possibility of a soft hand ball against Baldock which I've seen given.

Other than Foden's bruised cheekbone think we escaped with nobody injured against the cloggers.

3 pts, clean sheet, won ugly, we move on.

Next.

Agree but thought Bernado could have switched it out to Foden a couple of times when he was free and h3 had the beating of their fullback.

Yeah agree Cancelo gives us a different dimension walker as a back up right back isn’t that bad.
