Sheffield United (H) | Post-Match Thread

A win is a win.

-clean sheet
-90 minutes for players that haven’t played much recently
-goal for Jesus

on to Burnley

I suppose that's where Kev is missed the most, that ability to make clear cut chances and take the game away from teams like this who only plan for staying in it?
Or Cancelo, really anybody whipping in crosses from the half-space as Bernardo cuts in and Ferran does it out wide.

Zinchenko did it a few times on the left, he had a good game, Walker can't do it apparentlly.

Thought the handball one was absolutely nailed on. The Torres one was unlikely to be overruled by VAR after the Asian sponsored ref didn’t give it.

These are the decisions that are frustrating.

We’ve been punished with hand ball offences going against us. Then the same with the push in the back. That’s a nailed on penalty.

And if they had scored with the shot from the edge of the box. Would it have been disallowed for hand ball by the player who knocked it down?

I thought the ref defended well for them today, he wasnt at fault for the goal, did well in breaking up the play with his positioning and his never say die attitude rubbed off on the rest of the team. All in all he was unlucky to be on the losing side.
I thought he was less in the way than others (Mason is awful). It was the non-penalties and the "foul throws" that marked out his incompetence.

Liked Fernandinho's many lobbed passes and clever attempts to thread the ball through, shame they never quite came off. Foden made some good runs. Sheffield only wanted to stay in the game then have a go in the last ten minutes and it nearly worked with the shot just past the post, otherwise their keeper kept them in it. Best moment of the game for me apart from Torres setting up Jesus was Dias's tackle in the first few minutes.

Looked a bit toothless going forward. Pep should have brought subs on after the hour to get that important second goal. Any team can get a lucky goal, so that second goal is vital to win the game.
I don’t like to see us time wasting at the end.

With Torres running at speed that little nudge/push was enough to knock him of balance.
Soft penalty yes but I thought as far as the press/media, pundits, ex refs if a player feels contact he should go down and be awarded a penalty. That why I thought it was a penalty, he was nudged when running at speed.
The 'handball' I dont know the handball rule lol.

But in both instances it took VAR less than 10 seconds to decide against City.

Most teams start the time wasting against us in the first 10 minutes, sometimes needs must, I’d rather watch us waste time than concede ...

Ho

No way did they deserve or even look like getting fuck all..
We didn't create lots but we did score..

I didn't say they deserved something from the game. But, as we have seen many times last season teams score from their first effort, and if that shot from Fleck had gone in, I wouldn't say we were hard done by.
