Sheffield Utd (A) post match thread

Great win played in piss poor conditions, thought we defended brilliantly, Walker my motm but any of that back four were contenders. Mahrez continues to be a complete and utter liability and if he's playing for a move he's doing a really shit job of impressing any suitors. He's the only down point of today, every other attack minded players were ok, nothing special though. A seven out of ten team performance today.

Good display against difficult opposition. Back 6 were excellent. Sterling very good in first half. Kevin had a number of good chances to put players 1on1 today and fluffed them all. Torres very impressive first half as well. Mahrez.......
Bizzarre Pep moaning about not being able to use 5 subs to protect players from muscle injury and then doesnt use one until 10 mins from the end. Great result.

I think you need to go to Specsavers if you think Cancelo is good enough defensively. Going forward he is excellent but as I said before is far too easily beaten just like he was when the Sheffield Utd player played the ball through his legs setting up a good chance for Lundstrom.
I fuckin give up.

That was the sort of scrappy and gritty 1-0 that Liverpool ground out last season early doors so we should be very pleased. Looking so much better at the back as well.
Walker was very good again, Rodri and Bernado were both very good and used the ball well.
Too often we got into good positions in their penalty area and made the wrong decision, the wrong pass or taking a shot when someone else was better positioned...very frustrating and we should have put the game to bed much earlier.
Mahrez did well in the 1st half then reverted to type in the 2nd, very frustrating.
All the danger from Sheff Utd came down our left hand side, I still don't rate Cancelo defensively.
Only two points off the top.

Our final ball was abysmal today , and yet we still came home with three points , KDB had a few chances to lay goals on for players and unusually for him he was poor , but he sets such high standards any criticism appears harsh.
Our defence won that game today and its not often we can say that , a few Mancini type 1-0 wins and we will soon be back on our perch.

On a positive note, we managed to get through a whole Michael Oliver game without giving away a penalty.
Do you think our players were under instruction to avoid making contact with opponents as much as possible because of who the referee was? I also wonder whether Pep's comment about Porto doing a "cut and paste" of the Leicester game plan was also a dig in thar direction?
