Sheffield Utd (A) post match thread

Still nowhere near our best but no pre-season, loads of injuries, different levels of fitness, 3pts and a clean sheet after an away champions league tie is a top result.

id be more worried if performances weren’t back to normal by January

I’d take that performance/result all day, every day to the end of the season if it meant we won multiple trophies again.

- It’s 40 days since the season began on 21 September
- We’ve played 10 competitive games against parked buses
- 6 of those games have been away from home
- We’ve had the worst injury list of any team, anywhere
- We’re playing players out of position to cover
- We’re bedding into the squad some promising new players
- We’re 2 points off the top of the league table
- We’re on the cusp of guaranteeing CL qualification
- We’re in the QF of the League Cup

I’m no happy-clapper but reading the match-day forum these days is awful. The WUMs and Bots I expect it from, especially those linked to The Red Filth and The Scouse Filth (no offence ‘Toffeedude’ and any Evertonians.. may you continue to have a good season!) But come on, lads and lasses, give Pep and the squad a break! If we stay in touch with the top of the table, progress in the cups and get everyone back fit and match-fit.. well, let’s see what happens to this team in the new year!

Good post but a disappointing lack of the word "fucking" in your screen name.

Mahrez is stealing a living, completely ineffectual and doesn't work hard enough.

Defence looks great but Cancelo will always give someone a chance.

Bernie more like his old self in the second half.

And, whisper it quietly, De Bruyne is becoming something of a liability because he needs a rest and is out on his feet, impacting his work rate and decision making.

Walker man of match for me.

Did I mention how shite Mahrez is?
I'll take the other side of this. KDB is a risk-taker. When he succeeds, is killer passes open up the packed defences. But those passes won't always come off and it looks sloppy. Even in games where he's not completely on, he still makes a difference. Who found Kyle in midfield in a ton of space?

I think after Gabriel comes, gabriel in middle with ferran/Foden on left with raheem on right with KDB, bernado/gundogan, rodri would be immense...

I thought Torres played quite well considering it’s not his natural position. It’s the first time for weeks we’ve had a presence in that position of the pitch.
He made good runs but missed chances. Yes it's not his natural position and he is not to blame but just saying that we need a real striker/finisher in that position. Screenshot_2020-10-31-22-53-11-427_com.sofascore.results.jpg
