Sheikh Khaled attempting to purchase Newcastle

FFP in europe won't matter in the first few years as the main sanction is a competition ban and Prem FFP regs allow up to £100M losses one time as long as their is proof that future years will make up this shortfall.

They could initially make some signing in the 30-50M bracket to get themselves competing for 6-8 place, then build on that.

I doubt they are expecting to be prem champs in the first few years bit at least top 4 within 3, which is doable if, like us they invest wisely and don't spunk the money daftly.

Will all depend on who they appoint in the boardroom tbf.

If Khaldoun has a brother...

its 2019 and FFP so newcastle will only be at their level no matter who owns them ?? and it takes time to grow and build something forget instant success and top 4 places newcastle will be hard pushed to break into the top 6 the way football is setup today ?? it will only gives you a fighting chance and success if the right people are involved, and if the fans think its going to be easy then they will be in for a shock ??? round pegs don't fit in square holes ?? and players will only go to newcastle for the money and will be on a free ride and until you get rid of that mentality after the shock of having money to spend the hard work begins

it took 4 seasons and a strong manager in mancini to stop all the bullshit of signing so called superstars just wanting a free ride and he got in real winners players that wanted to go that extra miles for the badge and not the money
Nah there’s new rules for new ownership after the Milan’s were taken over and lobbied for it.

We seem to have had some great games against Newcastle over the years and ive always found them to be passionate and loyal, i was at the 5-0 defeat at St James Park in the eighties which wasnt much fun apart from the banter in the pub afterwards. It was a season they were promoted and we finished 4th and missed out if i recall correctly.

All clubs suffered poor attendances in the eighties compared to today, even us. We averaged less than 20,000 ourselves one season in the second division- think that was 1988. For a club that hasnt won a major trophy since beating us in the 1955 Cup Final the support they get is fantastic really, one team city or not. I just hope they dont think it will be easy and happen overnight because it wont, it will be hard because of FFP, more clubs with serious cash and the fact many players dont want to live so close to the Artic!

Good luck to them, hope they get a day in the sun like we have.

They won the old Inter-Cities Fairs Cup in 1969 (English teams won it 4 years in a row, Leeds, Newcastle, Arsenal and Leeds again before it was replaced by the UEFA Cup in 1971 and then Spurs and Liverpool won it the first two years it was held).

The reason the Toon has been bought before now?

Ashley is a greedy twat, and has consistently overvalued the club.

Yes but when even a relegated PL team gets +£100 million tv and league revenue alone, selling NUFC below £200-£250 million even in the last 5 years by Ashley would have been giving it away on the cheap. He knew its value was only going to keep going up.

He’s still a greedy bastard.

Should we see this long term as a threat or embrace the competition?
Embrace it.

The more clubs challenging for the title the more piss boiled by the ****s at UEFA If all of a sudden English Clubs are winning their comps every year too.

Think this will be good for us, an ally against the evil red clubs.

I like Newcastle as well and their fans deserve something way better than Ashley.

It could also maybe get the effect that other teams will be less interesting to purchase as the competition will be harder and Top 4 will be more difficult to achieve. Here’s to hoping at least.

Well it's certainly boiling Miguel delaneys piss, not sure how many times he can write sportswashing the massive prick
