Shooting / Rioting in Paris

90% of these morons couldn’t careless about the lad who was shot. Just an excuse to rob and vandalise shit
When you look at the graffiti being scrawled it says a lot about those rioting. This has gone from being a call for justice, to being hijacked by those calling for vengence against the police.

How about we go with the vast majority of them will be born in France, making them as French as any white Frenchman.
If rioting to protest against the killing of innocent people by armed law enforcement is your definition racist then they must be being racist.
Police anywhere should not be condoned for killing innocent people regardless of colour or heritage in any country.
Have you seen the video on the first page of this thread?
Can you justify in any way the actions of that policeman?
Would you be happy for your son or brother to be gunned down in that way?
Of course I wouldn’t. But if someone is pointing a gun at you in your car you comply. It’s not hard. Why have the rioters burned down a library? The outcome of these kinds of situations always go too far because they are ideologues. Fighting against something that is ironically less toxic than the so called balance of power they are presumed to be fighting against.

In other words, they are terrorists.

I'm not so sure about condoning, but I reckon that what you are stating as a racial stereotype is actually more because the vast majority of people are law abiding, and wouldn't just drive away. Irrespective of race, or religion !
The vast majority don't drive without licences, unlike this kid. According to the Beeb he was due in a youth court in September for that offence.
I'm not saying shooting should be the penalty for driving without a licence but it could explain why the kid drove off after initially being stopped and possibly why he tried to escape after being caught a second time. However, a passenger in the car claims the police hit him a few times with their guns which may have caused him to lift his foot allowing the car to move forward, thus enraging the already upset policeman.

Predictably, the usual suspects on Twitter (arseholes like Sophie Corcoran and Mahyar Tousi) have been approvingly suggesting that this is Marine Le Pen's moment.

Twitter also just happens to be fucked up right now with lots of members saying that they can't access their accounts properly. This includes me, otherwise I would post examples here.

But talk about a cure that is worse than the disease...

This is the car he was driving. Its a 2020 model Mercedes A Class AMG. Uk price would be around £24k. Thats an expensive car for a 17yr old.

Still going on I see. Love how this triggers the far right nutters on here, can we hire the rioters to come over here and do the same to wake people up?
More power to them

1. France's policing doesn't have a great reputation round here. The country has issues it should address.
2. Having said that, I really had to think before I remembered what the trigger was here, despite it only happening a couple of days ago.
3. Because riots in France? You suprise me. In general, France has a long history of "direct action".
4. Young people are expected to disregard and disrespect society's "holy cows", such as symbols of respect for the holocaust.
5. You hope this is enough for most people to feel this isn't the way, and the answer is subtle, not signalling, not strong arming, but emphasising civil society, democracy, equal justice, and so on.
6. But what'll happen is political signalling, "a muscular response", and this will roll over a few years

Just goes to show you, the political wings, right and left, are more prominent now than in my lifetime, and largely it seems they don't care about lives or suffering, they thrive on chaos, and that remains the strongest argument for adults to say, 'NON' to either.
