Should City Offer Subsidised Away Travel?

It would, but certain PL clubs won't entertain that idea.

Unless 100% of the clubs and their owners back that idea, it won't ever happen.

Put it this way.

Can you see Arsenal selling 3000 away tickets for £35?

3000 X £62 = £186.000
3000 x £35 = £105.000
The difference over a season = £1.539.000

And there lies the problem.

Can you imagine United, Spurs, Liverpool, etc, ever agreeing to drop away tickets prices to £35? Exactly.

Instead they will all agree on cheaper options, that makes it look like clubs are trying to help away fans.

Subsidised travel for a club like City who sell out their away allocation for virtually every match will always cause problems. If you attempt to discount tickets, it would have to be at City's expense, not the home team. If you offer subsidised travel then it is immensely difficult to do that fairly because lots of people travel to matches differently, either by car, train or coach. Also, as soon as you make away travel more affordable you make it more attractive and suddenly people who were used to getting tickets for every away game will find that they now can't because more people want to attend.

Thats clearly not the problem though is it as 1.539m is much less than the £4m that they are now going to be putting aside?

20 PL clubs in total are putting £4mill aside between themselves, not just Arsenal.

PL club owners won't drop ticket prices. They know hardcore fans will still buy away tickets and travel. And when clubs don't sell those away tickets, the home fans will buy them. The prime example being City. 1250 away tickets priced at £47 almost sold out for the Newcastle match.(Monday night, 8pm)

Right, misread the article, so they are putting 200k in each.

Not sure City is a prime example there would be a far more clubs who wouldnt sell any returned away tickets, than those who would sell out.

Sorry.
I meant as in now(tomorrow night) and our club.

Not read all the post But I watch the German football show and they all have good followings, their fans are assisted with their travel plans so it could help the PL teams

so the premier league, a league that is meant to be global thinks the subsidised travel is the answer.

has anyone told them most clubs attract away fans from all across the nation.
