Should Dzeko start on Sunday?

dzeko has scored against man utd every time he's played them for wolfsburg and city

start him

He's shown that when he's on form he is brilliant and will score a lot of goals... the problem is he's not on form.
Tonight he was by far the worst player on the pitch, he looked like dzeko from last season.

We have to use Aguero and Balotelli. Play Dzeko in smaller games to help him regain that form from the start of the season.

Here is my objective comment regardless of the fact that I'm a huge Dzeko fan and frankly disgusted at the hatred that some on this forum show toward the lad. He wears the shirt proudly and deserves your support regardless of his performance. It is disgraceful to call someone shit who had the best one game performance of any striker this eyar against Tottenham and made a statement game for City to start off the season with 6 goals in 3 matches.

That said....given the in-form Balotelli and Aguero, I would start those two strikers against United and bring in Dzeko off the bench in the second half if they need a spark. Dzeko has always had good games against United so this is a tough call, but that he seems to have lost his confidence recently and finishing has been poor. Even though he scored in Bosnia's matches, he missed some chances which would hav sealed the victory against France. It was the same tonight where he could have scored on several occasions but missed. He should be given credit though for making himself a threat.

I have a theory regarding the hatred against Dzeko. Folks have fallen in love with smaller, athletic, fast players and hold Dzeko's size and pace against him. He is simply a different type of player and you only notice the mistakes he makes because you are looking for him to fail. Aguero lost several posessions tonight where he just had a poor touch and nobody was questioning his ability because he scored. Had Dzeko scored on one of those chances, he would have been hailed a hero and we wouldn't be having this conversation.

Cheers!

I agree with you almost 100% but you have missed out the most important factor of all. Dzeko is a confidence player. His dip in form was after he was rested against Wigan, he clearly thought this was Mancini choosing Tevez over him and hasn't been the same since.

I believe our 3 strikers for the future (Aguero, Dzeko and Balotelli) all have different attributes but right now Dzeko cannot be risked as a starter on Sunday like you have said. The one thing i do hope is that he realises being rested isnt being dropped, we have a big squad with a lot of games, it is essential to rotate.

I just don't see how Balotelli can be left out the starting line-up - he's the form striker, 4 in 4, use him!
this, ballotelli has to start, hes on top form and with the rags almost certainly out to wind him up he'll thrive off it just like in the semis. seems to have got his head down this season and started listening to mancini should start as the lone striker, plays it better than aguero and dzeko.

Fyk...I would not want to play for the Blues. Really? Everyone's forgetting that this big lad did not only score 4 in one game (how many other Blues have done that in HISTORY?) but that he also scored in each of the 2 prem games before that, ....against United before that....and against Inter even before the United game.

The man has a couple of bad games and he gets it like this? Shit...Dzeko...get the fuck out of there as soon as possible buddy.

...but then again; if Balo has a bad game on Sunday I would love to read about his "great form". Some people have the the memory of a gold fish (6 seconds).

Critize his form, but the way some on here are attacking him....really? A lot of people seemed to have waited for their chance to do just this. And if he is what you call a "confidence" player, wouldn't this be the perfect fucking time to play him?

No definately not, he looks lost and has been ineffective for the last 3/4 games. By ineffective i dont just mean not scoring, i mean totally useless. His touch and link up play just dont match those around him right now, he isnt the only one either. Aguero is the main man and scoring and Balotelli is on form, why would you start a nervous wreck ahead of those 2?

We'll probably never have the three of them in form at the same time anyway, isn't that a rule of football? One slumps, the other excels. Balotelli was in the doghouse when Aguero and Dzeko were firing, now Dzeko is slumping while Balotelli is on fire. You'd think Aguero's turn is next but I'm not sure he'll ever go more than a couple of games without scoring (touch wood).
