It’s the symbolism of it. You know what the general public are like here, I’m certain it’s no different over there. You get McDonalds, the Premier League, Coca Cola, Apple etc. to stop trading there and you’ll get an irrational upset across the general public.

You could imagine what it’d be like here if we were at war with America and they and they pulled all those things out of Britain…

“People are dying? Meh”… “There’ll be no more McDonald's? Right, that’s the last straw!”

Why would an american "resturant" be so popular in russia anyway? Apparently 62000 being put out of work(still paid tho for the time being).
If the boot was on the other foot I somehow cant see a russian resturant being as popular, and it would probably have been boycotted by now anyways.
All seems to play into putins hands all the western companies pulling out, IF he does despise the west as much as we are told

Because there’s a lot of Russians that either remember what it was like behind the iron curtain, they won’t want a return to it and you don’t get more symbolic than McDonald’s tbh.

Russians have enjoyed a lot of western influence and culture, just look at the queues when ikea closed there the other day.

It’s not that big a deal over there. Less than half the employees in Russia than in the U.K. with double the population.

The one I use occasionally here in Spain is miles better than any I’ve ever used back home. Not something I tend to eat a lot but many a hangover has been assisted by their shite fayre! :-)
