Should we be looking at new kit deal?- new update pg34 Chelsea NIKE DEAL

Say whatever you want about us, but the fact is, we are the 3th team who sells the most jerseys in the world, and one of the most marketable teams on the world, yeah we had a bad season, but that doesnt affect our image out there one bit, and are still much more marketable than City is right now, so signing us for Nike and giving us that much money makes an awful lot of sense for them
This deal will seem like a bad move in a couple of years even taking into account Chelsea are arguably in a period of stagnation.
The length of the contract is a mistake as with the growth of the premier league globally Chelsea will either be earning peanuts in 5-10 years or will have to buy out of it at considerable cost to the club.
We on the other hand are in the process of expanding at a steady pace and have to consider carefully our next deal.
We should be looking at as short a deal as possible as we're likely to be in a stronger position in a few years. We could probably get a higher value deal long term but should look for a similar yearly value as Chelsea but on half the length of contract hopefully.

Nobody knows exactly the lenght of the contract, but the truth is,these contracts are usually renegotiated, very rarely do these contracts run their full course, for example, we still had 6 years on our Adidas deal, but since Nike stepped in and offered us, what is the third biggest kit deal in football today, we simply bought out of the contract.
If we feel we are being lowballed, we will just find other kit provider, like we did with Adidas, and Samsung, also no matter how you slice it, 60M is a huge sum of money, and trying to make like we made a bad deal is silly IMO

Well watching the melbourne derby on BT and nike have give city a decent version of the shit template in white and sky blue which we could easily have had as a 2nd or 3rd kit rather than our shit ones so nike can fuck off

I'm not saying it's a bad deal but to buy out the last six years of this contract it would cost you around 360 million, not a figure to be taken lightly. I believe it's a good deal but as people have pointed out in ten years time it could be a low deal but for now it's a great one. I would rather get a smaller deal from a more unique manufacturer. Like most people on here I miss umbro.

I think it all depends on how many shirts we sell, if we keep selling as we are now, i doubt Nike will be unwilling to renegotiate, but i understand your point, but honestly we cant predict these kind of things, so as of now, regardless of what happens in the future, its a fantastic deal for us
