Should we prioritise Champions League now?

With where we are right now....in terms of form, injuries, lack of intensity and more importantly our lack of being able to defend whatsoever

Then the answer is no, we will not win the CL

Playing as we did at home to Shakhtar or at Newcastle in the 1st half it is impossible to see City successful.

However what if that lack of intensity and poor defending was down to injury? I believe that Fernadinho has been a disaster in defence but I am equally sure that Otamendi would be too.

The obvious solutions are like for like replacement of Mendy by ZInchenko, Fernandinho by Laporte, Mahrez by Sane or Bernado etc.

But like in any sport, with a full team, back to how we can play, and some luck that every team needs to win a cup competition, we still have a chance. ;-)

PS. Stop swearing. Be civil. We’re all still pissed of about yesterday. :-(

Just had a rant in the stones thread. Basically stones, otamendi and mendy should hang their heads in shame that our best defensive midfielder is trying to play as a cb. And to be honest at the minute he is our best cb. He has saved the defence a few times so far

It a bloody disgrace
 
Domestic cups (and CL) should take absolute priority. Absolute strongest 11 in every reamining cup game and rotate the weaker squad players in for the league games.
 
This team will not win fuck all this season that matters, the title or the CL.

Not good enough in all areas. Our best defensive midfielder playing at CB, the replacement we bought is too slow and we miss way too many chances. Yet give a chance and it taken no matter who we play.

Kdb being asked to run around like a blue arse fly, how deep did he have to go yesterday?

It can all be resolved if we buy a decent centre back but we wont because recently we have become cheap
 
League is our bread and butter. It will do my head in if we just coast through the rest of the league games.

Pep has failed this season. It's his fault. He was presented with a difficult problem with the injuries and he went for the conservative solution

I was struck by the number of absolutely pivotal VAR moments in the CL games in midweek. I watched the highlights in midweek, and many of those games were incredibly intense affairs and turned on such small moments. City can not afford to coast and then put everything into CL ties.

Liverpool have a side that is made for Cup games and one-off matches. We don't.

I agree with a lot of that. Particularly the point about KDB. I had watched him against Chelsea run himself into the ground and I interpreted it as lack of fitness, but perhaps its because his midfield partners are useless.

You forget one thing though, it's December and Laporte maybe back in weeks. It may be longer, but at least players like Zinchenko, Sane will return soon. They are my hope of lifting the malaise.
 
If you’re third in the premier league, topped your champions league group, and in the quarter finals of a cup competition then your not “shit”, “pathetic” or “a disgrace” as most on here are saying. Some can’t seem to accept that we’re not on top form. It’s just that. There’s no players slagging pep or anyone else off and no player mutiny or chairman/owners making knee jerk reactions and wanting to make drastic changes. A part of this season has been a tough watch, but that’s what being a fan is supposed to be about - getting being the team and not picking scape goats out to abuse. We’ve now got 2 months of a sort of per season to get sorted for the champs league. Best chance we’ve had to win it in my opinion. Laporte back, Sané back and others settled better or fully fit will make a huge difference. And if it doesn’t work out then we might have to slum it and make do with a domestic cup or 2. Sorry if that opinion doesn’t fit in with the “I want it all NOW” brigade
