Should we recall Joe Hart?

What will it complicate?

Well, say the likes of Arsenal or Chelski decide it's time for a change. Neither of them have dominant first team keepers and if they came in for Hart, could we justify seeing them off when we know Hart isn't likely to be first choice at City? And would Hart be a happy bunny if we did block that sort of a move for him? He'd be very likely to have a few Lescott moments, I reckon.

Not forgetting UEFAs new rules on home based players.

Joe Hart has done well at Birmingham, but I doubt he'd have progressed as much with our defence around him. In fact the lad's confidence would have been shot.

Shay Given is arguably the best keeper in the premier league and unless he was injured, Joe Hart would only be sitting on our bench. As others have said, he's on loan to the end of the season and it's debatable whether he should come back to us then. Keeping two top class keepers happy is close on impossible.

And this is sooooooo damning when you consider how much we paid for our defence as compared to the journeyman first teamers they have over at Brum.

Shouldn't this thread be about signing a better back up for Shay who we can play this season?

I've put a thread up in the transfer forum re this. I think it's a very good point.

Utterly ludicrous idea. He's doing well because he is getting first team football. Stop fretting he has time on his side. And we currently have one of the best 'keepers in the world. Joe is the best Prospect for the future.

Keep him in 1st team football on loan then when Shay gets closer to retirement start bringing him in to our first team.

If Shay got injured we'd almost certainly be able to get an emergency loan outside the transfer window.

So no need to sign anyone in January IMO.

They'll say you've got a fit replacement called Stuart Taylor.

Who we'd need to replace. No rule says that you can only sign an emergency loan keeper to sit on the bench.

We hold his contract for another 4 years and do not need the money. Trust me if those clubs come knocking we will tell them where to go provided we feel he is our future

I'm pretty sure Joe would wait it out another year picking up valuable experience before coming back to us if we told him we see him as the long term successor - he loves Manchester and the club.

They paid a loan fee so hes there for the season. They dont have any option to buy him though. Hes on a 4 year deal thing is we have Given whos probably the best keeper int he league.

I have a nasty feeling he will want a move after the World Cup - it wont be to Birmmingham though.

He has no reason to move. He's getting first team football in the Premiership, with the option of coming back to a CL club.
