ShowSec - " We did nothing wrong"

During an incident at a previous game, the supervisor for ShowSec went down the steps between 108 n 109 and started giving orders to the others. Some lads at the front of 108 started singing "You're getting sacked in the morning" and were pointing at the member of staff. The supervisor came up the steps and was on the radio to the control room to Peter Fletcher and clearly said "Yes, they are getting aggressive and shouting abuse at us; this was not the case, it was banter.
As a fan was then taken out just before half time I said to the supervisor that it was out of order and he replied that it was from orders from Peter Fletcher, to which I replied that it was in response to his incorrect information. He then walked off sheepishly.

i know a hell of a lot of showsec lads, the nature of my job dovetails with theres.....

on the internet clip, you only see what the city fans want you too, also it was the call from fletcher to "get this guy out he doesnt care what it takes".

Being a drunken student and getting thrown out of bars by them does not count as a job dovetailing with theirs!!!! LOL. Alright Ste, how are you?

yet Alan Wallace has clearly brought this back into light when he should have kept his fat gob shut! Nothing like trying to wind up the supporters.

There's been mass discussion on this, with many allegations and accusations being thrown around. Journalist asks questions, subject of conversation answers.

Really don't see the issue. Nor have i all along.

Just dont see why it needed to be dragged up again. They couldve easily refused to comment, instead the fire is stoked when alot had forgotten about it and the dust had settled.

That was the point i was trying to put across.
They've been getting panned on the forums and on the MEN website, if nothing else it's a chance to readdress the balance and get some positive publicity into the public domain.

I don't think any fire should be stoked, they've said nothing provocative?

I find it provocative that he says his staff did nothing wrong, when one of them was arrested for throwing punches at City fans.
The shitbag in question was seen doing so by several posters on here, and was also seen being arrested on the concourse later on.
So how does this sit with Wallace's statement?
Typically dismal, half-arsed one-sided journalism from the MEN not to mention this, either in the original story or to use it to challenge the assertions made in this flimsy PR flannel exercise.
Not exactly Woodward and Bernstein investigative stuff, is it? Especially given the fact they stole virtually the whole of their original story from this board, same as they did with the Amrik Gill cup final ticket story and many, many others.
Showsec is a company which exercises quasi-judicial powers over football fans and should be answerable and accountable for the rags and barely house-trained thugs among its staff who see the chance to assault or throw out City fans as a fun day out.

In the article it is made clear that City have spoken to the fan involved and I wonder what he has had to say about all this. I would think that the MEN has tried to talk to the fan involved so why is there no report of his reaction?

It would appear that City and the fan are satisfied that it has been sorted and are ready to move on again. As others have said the videos do appear to have been edited and how would you feel if there were 5/10 of you and hundreds of baying fans out for your blood because you were trying to make sure that the stadium/club rules were being followed?

IMHO

I have heard both sides, and i have brought up with the person countless accounts from my own experience's either through hearsay or personal accounts to the person.

Showsec may have a hard job, and i can honestly and professionaly say that it can be an unforgiving job at times, that doesn't give security/stewards the right to "noise up" individuals the way they do with snide comments about the club, nor does it give them the right to man handle people or swear at them, which i have witnessed myself.

There is a line between restraining someone and assaulting someone.

At the end of the day Fletcher gave the call to get the man out whatever it takes.
