ShowSec - " We did nothing wrong"

I'm not sure if "degree" is the right word.

I do know for a fact that there are NVQ's in spectator safety and most City stewards will either have these or be working towards them. These include doing evening sessions about self defence, first aid, conflict management and other stuff. When the assessors come round the stadia they observe the stewards in action and how they deal with people, carry out searches etc.

Perhaps this is what he meant.

I'm sure Trigger can advise further too.

You are correct in what you say, other things covered include fire safety, evacuation, crowd densities, and of course how to resolve issues - these are covered under NVQ level 2 & 3 for MCFC Stewards, unfortunately I cannot confirm what training is given to other stewards such as Showsec, IOS, G4S etc that City use, but would be surprised if City do not insist on them receiving similar training.

alan wallace says they are trained to turf out trouble causers. how is a 60 year old man with a heart condition a trouble causer?

i sit in level 2 and it happen right below me, i saw everything. so all you armchair wankers who watched it on the internet can fuck off. showsec are a bunch of heavy handed cunts who shouldnt be anywhere near a large crowd.

fair play to the female steward on sat who was having a laugh with the boys in 109

Do we have proof he has a heart condition? some showsec guys said it was a load of rubbish.

And a know a fair few game blokes who are 60 odd.

No mention of the member of his staff who was arrested for throwing punches at City fans then?
That was my thought.
It wouldn't surprise me at all if this has been swept under the carpet. Not a mention of it in the MEN or any of the club's various outlets.
I mean, has any effort whatsoever been made by the Old Bill or City to contact any potential witnesses or victims? I haven't heard of any, despite the fact both his conduct and his arrest was witnessed by posters on here.
Perhaps the fact that he and the coppers who arrested him were seen laughing and joking together as he was led away tells you all you need to know.
If anybody is going to the next Points of Blue, I would be grateful if questions could be asked about this twat and what has happened to him.

fair enough we wont make up our minds from the 3 minute video on youtube, we'll just remember what happened from actually being there. backlash on its way me thinks

Unfortunately this.

It had all gone quiet on the stewarding front, and it could have got nasty but it was left alone after people had got things off their chest and had voiced their concerns.

This should have been left alone, as what was happening, yet Alan Wallace has clearly brought this back into light when he should have kept his fat gob shut! Nothing like trying to wind up the supporters.

I can see there being City fans angry at this and allowing it to appear at the next home game. Sad state of affairs from Showsec and their regional manager who has possibly ignited a reaction, but hey, what does he care, its not him on the frontline is it?

-- Tue Nov 01, 2011 1:32 pm --

How can they say it is a load of rubbish? That is their opinion Ste. They are running the risk of a law suit by not treating someone who says they have a medical condition with the utmost respect, due care and attention.

Unless they have seen the man's medical record i would take what they say with a pinch of salt.

IMO it would be a mistake of our fans to repeat the attempted "wind up" of Showsec that was tried at the Villereal home game. IMO many fans were more concerned with the stewards than the game.
We need to get behind the team and give our team proper attention and support by being the 12th man.
There must be other avenues to talk to the club about poor stewarding.
We have some really hard games coming up.

There's been mass discussion on this, with many allegations and accusations being thrown around. Journalist asks questions, subject of conversation answers.

Really don't see the issue. Nor have i all along.

Who gives a shit what Showsec officially say in defence of their workforce? Apart from the MEN of course, who presumably interviewed him before they ran the story to try and get this damp squib of a news story off the ground once again.

Some people are just too bloody gullible and precious for words.

Just dont see why it needed to be dragged up again. They couldve easily refused to comment, instead the fire is stoked when alot had forgotten about it and the dust had settled.

That was the point i was trying to put across.
