Sick days / mental health days

15 days off a year I don't blame them for using the mental health days, shite that. For reference I get 6 months full sick pay 3 months full pay paternity, 35 days holiday including birthday off and 5 volunteer days.
This is why Mick Jagger once sang, "In the sweet old country where I come from, nobody ever works. Nothing ever gets done".

Watching people trying to negotiate roundabouts over here is scary. Maybe the younger generation are getting trained on them now but the older drivers have no clue. I’ve never seen anyone else ever use their indicator, they must think I’m mad. Having said that, the nearest one to me is 85 miles away

Why is it so low in the states? For context, I take the whole of August off and head to France/Italy for the full month. Always have a week in the Canaries in May and at least a week off at Xmas. As long as my hours are done I can do them whenever I want as well. These kind of workplace conditions you speak of are draconian.
Most of the advanced nations of the world mandate in law minimum days due to the population voting in progressive governments at some point in their respective pasts. The US just hasn’t managed this in their 248 year existence. Even when a US employee “gets” 15 days or so, the culture is that often it’s not taken in full because they just have no legal protection from subsequent employer pressure, bullying and discrimination.

The land of the free, eh?

I've always used at least 2 weeks sick a year on top of regular holidays. Why not if your employer pays you?

People who say I've never had a day off in 20 years as if it's virtuous are absolute morons.

No-one on their deathbed has ever said I wish I spent more time in work (and there are plenty of studies of this kind).
