Sick days / mental health days

We now have personal days.

Ring in.

“I’m taking a personal day”

“OK”
We have 5 family days per year. Think kind of for a family emergency and at your manager's discretion. I've had 2 this year to take my 90 year old father in law to hospital appointments. I've had one day sick in almost 2 years

Why is it so low in the states? For context, I take the whole of August off and head to France/Italy for the full month. Always have a week in the Canaries in May and at least a week off at Xmas. As long as my hours are done I can do them whenever I want as well. These kind of workplace conditions you speak of are draconian.
No one likes a fucking show off;-)

I've always used at least 2 weeks sick a year on top of regular holidays. Why not if your employer pays you?

People who say I've never had a day off in 20 years as if it's virtuous are absolute morons.

No-one on their deathbed has ever said I wish I spent more time in work (and there are plenty of studies of this kind).
Amen brother

I get what you are saying but on the other hand they are fucking over work colleagues when calling out sick each time as with no cover (at short notice) we then have to increase our workload for the day and in most cases can’t take a break because (in the care industry) we need a set number of staff to residents ratio on the floor. That can also mean the residents may also have to cancel appointments or social activities if we can’t get them to it because these selfish, entitled twats can’t be arsed getting into work that particular day.
