From what I gather, because of the Spanish economical crisis, Bilbao want the buying club to pay the 45% tax rate of the €40m buyout clause on top of the final fee! Just ridiculous really.

Both Llorente and Martinez will end up staying at Bilbao in my opinion.

I reckon City could get that lower if they pay the fee upfront rather than installments.

German media (BILD) reporting that Martinez' parents went to see Urrutia to pursue him to let their son go off to Bayern. Some of Martinez' agents were there as well.

Munich local paper TZ interviewed Hoeness two days ago. He said something along the lines of 'His (Martinez) fee would usually be somewhere around 20 or 25 million, but thing is he's got a fixed price tag of 40 million. Now you can start the season with your current squad or for once succumb to insanity and pay the money. We (board of directors) took our time thinking about it and chose insanity.'

Been following the Martinez transfer saga for some weeks now and it seems Bayern want to make this one happen no matter what. It's their marquee signing of the year and it very much looks like they'll go to any lengths to make it happen. Can't see them giving up this close to the goal and there are no comments of Bayern officials hinting in that direction either. Actually it's pretty much the other way around.

I will only ever get my hopes up for this one if there's genuine interest shown from our side (and I don't mean some letdown phrase like 'we were interested') with Bobby coming out swingin' saying something like 'we'll see what we can do' or anything along those lines. Right then and there I'll gladly change into muppet mode. Till then it's better to assume Martinez will be shaggin his missus in Munich from now on rather than Manchester.

City just do things so much more professionally now and some fans need to just grow up,stop acting like children and let the club deal with transfers. Not one person said Rodwell before he signed so it wouldn't surprise me if we signed a player whos name hasn't even been mentioned on this forum.

We have just won the league & half the posts are people whinging about the club when we should all be so fucking happy with what the whole club has achieved.
