Martinez/Rodwell/Sinclair would make me happy enough. Two midfielders, one defender, one winger... I'm counting Martinez twice because he plays two positions so well and he'd be a marquee signing that fits the profile of our signings. Surely we can manage the £48million or so these three would cost even with FFP in mind? The rags and Chelsea have already spent far more than that. Even Arsenal are pushing £40million spent.

Would be a great signing, foil for Yaya and will allow him to get forward. Big and powerful, good on the ball, tactically very good and has football intelligence, will take the ball from the defence in tight areas.

You shouldnt get your hopes up, the english press is doing a terrible job covering the Martinez transfer. Yes it's true, the Bayern talks have it a snag and it looks unlikely that he'll sign with Bayern. But dont forget that Bayern has already agreed to match the clause (40m). Bilbao simply doesnt want to sell him and only the player himself can excute the clause. As of right now the only way to get him, is to let Martinez buy himself out which could result in a transfer fee between 40m and 65m (worst case scenario because of taxation issues). That's the reason Bayern is afraid to pull the trigger, so unless Bilbao changes its minds and agrees to sell him, i doubt that anyone would risk to signing him.

I'm a Bayern fan, so i understand if you take this post with a grain of salt but this whole transfer saga is just damn frustrating and i'd like to spare you some of the frustation.

Just to add to it. Maybe Bayern is not the first choice - but it is his second after Barcelona. And in Barcelona he would have had less chances to play whereas he is the perfect match for Bayern's midfield. He is in weekly private talks with the Bayern coach - who has been coach in Bilbao twice in 1992 to 94 and again from 2002 to 03 - since somewhen in spring. And him and his girlfriend learn German since some months.

Actually - in prior years the Bundesliga did not seem to be attractive to spanish players - but there already has been 5 spanish players that came to the Bundesliga this year. Athletic Madrid's young defender that was part of the Olympic team Alvaro Dominguez went to Gladbach. It has to do with the full stadiums, the enthusiasm, with healthy clubs, the German national team and all this youngsters coming up, rising coverage of the Bundesliga in Spain, Bayern's new international success after years in which they often ended in quarter finals, Dortmund getting a second power... - the Bundesliga is on the rise.

And Bayern has been in the CL final twice in the last three years with players that stay in the club - have long contracts - and the oldest of them are 28 right now. Average age of the starting formation is about 24. It is not like in 2001 after the CL title when the stars already were past the 30 and the average age was near it.

And maybe the EPL is not so attractive to spanish defenders. Offensive players - yes - but the play in the EPL is much more physical than in Spain or in Germany.

Dortmund fans joke right now that Martinez is a perfect match for Bayern - twice he has lost in the cup final and last year in the Europa League final... ;)

Amazing, ppl are talking about £40m+ as if its no cash at all. Maybe it's actually time to give Razak, Guidetti and the youngsters some games instead.

This is the hard year for FFP next year we will get 50m more tv money and sponsorship money without doing anything and will also lose bridge, Crocky etc
