Sign one player...

Fabregas. Our midfield is missing a player that has a proper engine, can pass, can defend and can attack.

It's that simple really. He'd replace Barry.

in my opinion bary = camel

Ok lets play a game you can sign one player, any player only catch is it has to be a realistic signing. So no need to say "Lionel Messi" when we all know damn well Barca are not going to let him leave and he would not leave. Once you have your player please list.

1. Reasons why you want him at the club and in the team?
2. Who you would drop from the first team or is he going to be a bench utility player?
3. Which squad player you would sell off to create space for said purchase and why?

LETS GO!!!

1. Steven Gerrard
Realistic. Adds extra creativity and attacking threat whilst not sacrificing steel. Adds a new dynamic with his long ranged passing. Experienced and has a few years left yet.

2. Most likely Barry.

3. Vieira.
You don't need to ask why...

I never said realistic - he signed a new deal at Bayern three months ago and their players are some of the best paid in the world.

For what he brings though...

Ribery is a busted flush and would rather spend money on Bale.

Agree. You have to give Schweinsteiger credit for signing a new deal with his club instead to go for Real or Barca or ... after the world cup though. Ribery is a one season wonder.

Can we outbid Barca and Real stupid amounts and pay him enough to get him here assuming top 4?

He is one player that can instantly make us a threat to beat anyone in the world especially with the likes of Silva, Tevez, Balotelli/Dzeko.

Tevez/Dzeko
Balo Silva
Cesc
Yaya NDJ
AK VK JB MR

Plan B is throwing large amounts at Schweinsteiger/De Rossi

I think a couple of wingers are needed.
And a creative player, like Pjanic of Lyon as others have suggested - his touch, passing and vision are pretty amazing.
He is only 20.
Here's a clip of him against Madrid last year when he was 19, in a match where he was far from his best - but his goal sent RM out of the CL.
