A deep lying playmaker, but we have already signed a Midfielder in Rodwell so this could be a bit of pointless signing. Even though he is in his last year of they can still ask for silly money.

we lacked a midfield already last year. we are selling de jong , barry is an year older , is rodwell enough ?

Barry is getting on, which is why Rodwell was signed; who may not be ready yet, but if we were to sign Alonso, he would get next to no game time, so the signing would practically be made redundant.
IF we were to sign Alonso, that's 3 players (even excluding Razak) that would be sitting on the bench whilst earning decent wages. Can't see it at all.
