Re: Marquee Signing before Southampton

Everton people see Rodwell as a centre half eventually, could be that we bought him to play in defense, not the midfield.

No they don't, all I've seen or read is how poor he is at CB.

Plus, Bobby has said that he thinks he will develop into a strong 'midfielder'.

Re: Marquee Signing before Southampton

Signing Rodwell now means we are at full squad strength in Midfield unless someone leaves (unlikely).

RVP is the signing Robbie wanted but wont happen.

Sinclair would be a good signing but not a major signing.

We need CB cover and this will be the area any major signing will be.

Eventually what?

Eventually he'll become a CB, or a strong midfielder?

Well if Joe Royle knew about Rodwell, then this high up rag might know the score at the swamp I doubt he will know what is happening at City which gives me a slight worry, don't really want any rags tbh even if one or two are better than who we have. Sorry just my opinion.

A deal takes two clubs + a player to conclude a deal, the City end might be as tight as a drum, but sometimes the other two ends aren't quite as lets say tight.

Eventually he is expected to develop into a central defender. He has barely played there in senior football to date.

Who expects him to?

Re: Marquee Signing before Southampton

I think Rodwell is the Martinez 'substitute' signing. The player who can fill in for Yaya/Barry and may later develop as CB cover.
Definitely a long term view this one though. I guess we won't be signing Nir Biton now though...would be a shame to miss out on him for just 2 million.
