For me to be a great you have to win things too.

Out of all our greats who has won The World Cup and Euro's

also FA Cup and was he in Valencia's side that won trophies!!

I agree with leaving the ground feeling I had not paid enough due to Silva. With Bell it was a time where I just expected it. I will not make that mistake this time and not appreciate what I am seeing.

Silva is class after watching him in all his games since he arrived,however as previous posters have mentioned Colin Bell is still for me the ultimate midfielder weve had.

Yes, but unfortunately he was called Colin, which kind of undermines his credibility ;-)

Kinky on top form was better than Silva in my opinion. That was the problem though, as brilliant we all know Kinky could be he could go missing in some games. Silva has not shown this and if it came to a straight decision on who to put your trust in to perform consistently, it would be David. Bell was a different player all together and cannot b compared.

I know I watched Colin as a kid but sadly remember nothing of his skill/prowess (of any of the greats to be honest, I was too young) but Silva is POSSIBLY the best player I have ever seen in the Premiership - who would you rate above him? Fabregas, Ronaldo? Dunno...

Hmmm... now that's a question for Messrs Book and Booth tomorrow night methinks ;-)

I know he hasnt been hear long and it is too early to say but in terms of talent and ability rather than what he has done for us so far is he the best player we have had? I am not quite old enough to have seen Colin Bell play but I have heard he was a Gerrard type box to box player so different position to silva and so hard to compare but have also been told that silva is the better player technically but needs a few more quality seasons under his belt before he can be called our best player. Is this correct or was Bell better than silva will ever be? All I can say is that silva is the best player I have seen in a city shirt and needs a song fast to show him our appreciation!

Not even close. Bell was better than Silva is now by some distance. And he did it over a prolonged spell (late sixties through to mid seventies). When Silva has performed consistently well over a similar period of time, then you can start to compare them.





He's not doing too badly so far though!
