Since Mancini took over

I think we've gone through a few different phases since Mancini took over.

The first few games we still had the attacking flair we had under Hughes but were a bit more solid defensively, plus we didn't have the most difficult of games until Everton, where he set us up in too attacking a formation.

Then he went more defensive and we've been unconvincing at home but much better away since Hull.

Hopefully Saturday marked another turning point where we're going to get stuck into teams instead of sitting back too deep and not challenging in midfield. We could rip any team apart playing like we did against Burnley.

That moving about at speed was awesome to watch,sylvinio was loving getting forward recieving the ball making a turn & finding players going forward.
A joy to watch.

We'd lost that speed and fluidity of movement to a large degree under Mancini. It was one of the big positives of Hughes' management. Great to see it back again.

You mean the vast improvement of Shay since he took over or the fact that lescott & bridge came back from long term injury OR the FACT our defence have started to ignore his zone marking bullshit.
Or perhaps Kompany coming back from injury & Ade being a huge asset in defence as he was before his first ban.
Loads & loads of reasons......infact i could write a full page of stuff like that.
BUT the main reason could just be down to the ball or the striker of it being shit & rather than going in the net or to a foot it does niether.
Let's not forget the last decent team we played were everton & look what happened to our defence that day.
It can take well over a season for a defence to gel & if he decides to bring zonal marking back with a bang in pre-season it could take yrs.
So have we improved or just had a bit of luck along the way.

Agree we were crap against Everton,but ANY team is going to get days like that,for whatever reason.

Are you basically saying Mancini can take no credit for where we are at the moment? Ade has been out for most of the games under Mancini so not sure what you're getting at there. Also lescott and bridge have been out for a number of games aswell but were still picking up points. Under mancini we have won 4 away games and 2 of those were at sides that very rarely lose at home, the same amount of wins in 4 months as hughes had in 18 months. Mancini has come in and took over a team that needed 4 goals to win a game or so it seemed who had won 2 of 11 in the leauge and done an excellent job, for you to give him little credit is a bit of a joke really

I wouldn't have said Shay has vastly improved, in fact his worst run of form came in January/February.

Lescott has played 7 matches under Mancini. He played 18 under the former manager. Bridge has played 7 matches under Mancini. He played 17 under the former manager. One of the most positive things about Mancini for me has been that the defence as a unit has improved by a mile, no matter who has been part of it.

Kompany coming back from injury has been a bonus, but he was available for long stretches at the start of the season (played 8 times under the former manager), as far as I can recall he wasn't tried in defence.

I wouldn't say Adebayor has had much of an impact defensively, and we seem to be as good in the times he hasn't been available to Mancini than when he has.

As for ignoring his "zonal marking bullshit", interesting theory. Anyway, in summary, the improvement in points, goals scored, goals conceded since Mancini took over has absolutely nothing to do with Mancini. Right?

i wanted hughes to be given the season but mancini is doing the job asked so far and that will do for me.
