Singing section/Atmosphere

I was just reading this article from a Newcastle fan who visited last Saturday and hope we can do something about how we’re perceived by other fans - We used to pride ourselves on singing and being loud, not just a quick song and only when we’re winning !!! CTID since 1974 home & away and a regular in Division’s 1&2 and it’s not good what I see never mind how others see us!?

Newcastle fans were fantastic on Saturday in terms of noise levels - probably the loudest away fans we've had in the PL this season - but that's a totally biased article. In many recent seasons when they've played us at ours they were nowhere near as good as they were on Saturday and in some seasons actually took a reduced allocation of tickets. When they played Huddersfield away at the start of the season live on Sky you couldn't hear a fucking peep from them all game so it's clear that their own support is hit and miss as well. Granted, we could've and should've been louder for sure on Saturday and you'd think with a 5.30pm kick-off on a Saturday it ought to be a decent atmosphere as it was against Spurs back in December but it doesn't always pan out like that. I remember seeing United fans complaining when they played Leicester at home earlier in the season on a Saturday at 5.30pm while they were on a decent run of form and the expected good atmosphere didn't materialise, despite the club offering them half-price alcohol for an hour before the game.

Last night proved what can be done.

Put 2000-3000 fans who want to sing on 1 terrace (with a low roof) and it generates
a great atmosphere and support.

Bristol City had about 1000 fans in a corner singing section who actually sang, and they were great as well.

It’s what a lot of us have been noticing for a long time. Other sets of fans see it too. We’ve become like that away from home too. Just a quiet set of fans who toddle the odd song off every now and again who are just there expecting us to win.

Acoustics wise,I don’t think you can get any better than in ss3.The roof helps .For me that’s where it’s at ,cheap tickets .I think more and more are heading into this section who actively sing and support the team.

I tell you one thing though the singing section where it is now just isn’t working.Lets Face it the away fans are never going to be moved which is a joke in itself as I think it’s ideal in that spot for channeling sound.

Radical rethink needs to be done because the lads and lasses that have followed them for years are still there.

As an observer I just think ss3 will get more and more popular and as a natural progression
I think it will eventually all stem from there if it continues the way it’s going.

Still doesn’t stop the problem off everybody being moved out for the cup games though.Again something that shows just how well the noise travels when you have a cohesive singing support all together up in there.

the same newcastle fans who have had to create a singing section and a fan/flag group because st james park has become a library.... they have the same problems we do.

It's simple really, just open your mouths, and sing along together, get passionate, get behind the boys. We're too busy talking bollox regard how to make it better, rather than doing what's required, AND THAT IS MAKING OUR VOICES HEARD IN UNISON ......

I sit in SS3 the atmosphere is rubbish most of the time.

one thing that would help is singing songs just about city and bringing back songs most of the crowd know.
city til i die ( no idea why we stopped singing that)
we love you city
super city
hey jude - only sing at the beginning of the match now.

these are all songs the majority of the crowd would join in with if we sang them more, but instead we seem to sing more about edin dzeko - no on joins in with it. even simple songs like 'guardiolas blue and white army' or just 'blue army- repeated' - easy to sing and could last for quite a while. i feel like when songs are created they are always tryign to be funny or witty, when in reality more simple songs work better.

I sit near the back of 317 and where I am it’s not too bad ,people joining in etc.

We must sit in different blocks.

Agree that everyone should try and play their part by opening there mouths, granted some want to sing and some don’t.

So witg Edin lookimg likely to be a chelsea player next week (gutted tbh seeing him in their kit)

will this mean no more renditions of his song?
