Singing section/Atmosphere

Anyone know the average age of City Season Card holders? That might explain some of it, older crowds like to chant a bit and then trail off(you can hear that happening haha) do the younger crowds still chant like they used to or do they think they are too cool to these days? Maybe focus on encouraging the younger parts of our support they are the ones with all the energy.
Maybe its only the pissed up ones who chant nowadays. ;)

What was the attendance? looked about 42,000 to me.
No chance Marv. Most of Top tier of Colin bell and south stand closed. I still thought atmosphere was decent though. Don't know what people expect to be honest.

That's 12,000 off the capacity and seeing as there were 1,000 City and 1,500 Steaua in those two stands and the rest of the ground was pretty much full, I'd say 42k will be pretty close.

Not sure mate I got moved from my seat in Colin bell to third tier easy stand and there were so many spaces folk were just sitting where they fancied near me. That was also due to others not having a clue how to read a seat number of a ticket and sitting in the wrong place. Whatever the case I thought the support was decent tonight and atmosphere good considering it was literally a stroll.

Considering the circumstances, the team put out and the overall game being quite poor (imo) it wasn't terrible.
Thought we did well to hit the 40,000 mark attendance wise though I've no seen the official numbers yet.

Are these threads on repeat?

Look, we tried to do something about it.

The club and the fans.

And in all honesty, let's be honest, it hasn't worked. The atmosphere has actually got worse.

Instaed of a concentrated singing section like we had in the Kippax corner that sang most of the time, and engaged in banter with the away fans, we tried to shift a few 100 singers, which in reality amount to a handful, into 115' under the overhang, and it has failed.

The displays are great, while they last, which are minutes, but there isn't much else happening on the terraces, bar the odd period of chanting, aided by a goal here and there.

And let's be honest, the average age of our support, including me, is approaching death.

In essence, back to the drawing board and let's start again, if anyone at the club and on the terraces can be arsed anymore?

i might be wrong, but i remember reading that the majority of people in 111/110 didn't move to the new singing section. so the kippax corner still has a majority of fans in it from before the move, they just dont sing anymore. apart from the odd game we never have an amazing atmosphere , like the majority of grounds in england. thats only gonna change when tickets are cheaper and standing comes back imo

5 nil up in a dead rubber tie, hardly going to be a white hot atmosphere is it.
Overall I thought it was pretty decent.

How hasn't it worked? I was in 111 tonight and all the noise came from 114/115. the corner joined in enough of the time but it was always started on the other side. I don't know what you were expecting but there's now home fans on either side of the away fans (when they turn up) that sing regularly. It's infinitely better that way and helps attempt to spread the noise to the rest of the ground, they can't be blamed if people sitting elsewhere can't be bothered to join in.
