"Singing section you're having a laugh"

Thought the atmosphere was fine yesterday. Particularly given the score / result.

The problem is you don't need a singing section/stand.
What you need is pockets of fans all round the ground, groups of a couple of thousand all singing will get the people around them singing.
I'm in the north stand, there's singers in there, me being one, but we are all spread out all over the place, so you end up singing on your own and sounding like a knob.
You can make as much noise as you want in the south stand, doesn't help at the other end of the ground.
I can't sing, voice of a drowning kitten, so don't like really like singing on my own, though I do, but will belt it out if people are singing round me.
Glad to see people trying to improve the atmosphere cos its been poor, we, me included need to try harder.
Keep up the good work.

Come and join us then in south stand ??? If more singers in ss rest of ground would then be more free to join in as it will be noisier coming across the ground.

All for people swopping seats and moving to the noisy bits if they are noisy themselves.

Was it bad yesterday?, from my seat in the SS third tier it didn't sound that bad at all, certainly far noisier than the corresponding fixture last year.

Would love to hear from people who have moved into 115 who dont sing and can tell us why they wont join in

Yea this is interesting. It isn't exactly deafening from the 115 section in 111/112 - But it's loud anyway as with the recent expansion other areas are chipping in.

I just hope the club would introduce one big dortmundesque north stand and throw every singer in there (i'd hapilly relocate here)

I just didn't relocate into the new sections (and stayed in 112) because I know many faces in there and feel more comfortable singing/shouting etc around familiar faces.
if everyone of us all decided to relocate en masse then I would as well.

i dont get why anyone in the singing section wouldn't sing. it doesn't make any sense, why not try and talk to as many people in the block i.e. what 1894 do and remind them its a singing block, sounds drastic, but maybe its needed

I think most of us, not all of us, thought the fans relocating to 114 and 115 were all singers. It was about 650 relocations from other parts of the stadium. In reality we've ended up with singers, occasional singers, and non-singers.(especially in the bottom parts of the blocks) The original idea was great, but the implementation of the idea clearly hasn't worked. In essence the club has replicated the Kippax corner, but this time in blocks 114 and 115 of the South stand.

The way to solve this is to get all the singers together. Unfortunately this won't be possible this season due to pre-sold season tickets and matchday tickets. Most of the singers will be dotted around the blocks for the remainder of the season. In the long-term it's going to take a group of dedicated fans to get together, to find an area within one of the blocks, if possible, and to make that area of a proper singing section. And ultimately to grow the numbers.

I know some of the 1894 lads, and I've always championed their work, but unless they organise things a bit more, and get the fans together on the terraces, with or without the help of the club, nothing will change in the short-term. It's one thing all meeting up on the concourse for a good sing song, but in reality it's on the terraces where the songs and the support really matter. And when I say that, I'm not having a go at 1894. They've done a great job so far.

I don't believe that people would go in level 1 of the South Stand if they weren't interested in the atmosphere at some level. They're not the cheapest tickets, it's not the best view, and you have to stand up. So there's really only one reason why you would go in there. "We" need to tap into that reason. The same goes for 110/111.

I have to agree with the comments of a few posters on here. I really think people are being a bit tough on themselves with regards the atmosphere sunday.

I thought in patches it was very loud, but more importantly there is a continual buzz/noise around the ground which has been distinctly lacking in previous seasons.

My ticket is in 308, but was sat first half in 218 and them moved into 223 for the second half. It was the first time I has a visual picture of the expansion and it is absolutely jaw dropping.

Rather than criticise I think everyone involved 1894 and general fans alike deserve a pat on the back. We just need to maintain the momentum and make games likes watford, chelsea the norm.

I'm in 115 having relocated and on the whole most people were making a racket. It does fade out a few rows in front of us (Row G - 10 rows back) but overall most people join in.

On Saturday it faded out a bit after they scored the first one because a large block of people walked out for 'another' pint. There are always lulls 5 to 10 mins after kick-off, before half-time and after half-time while people grab another beer. I'm not anti-beer btw.

The atmosphere is great in the SS lower tier but I agree with other posters that we can't hear 110/111 from where we are - I'm not saying they aren't singing but rather it must be acoustics as I used to hear them constantly in the Family stand.

What I will say though is get the club to turn off that shite piped music or at least turn it down ffs and give the singers a chance. When they make an announcement or put music on over the tannoy it makes your ears bleed.

The South Stand is building an identity nicely though and were all getting to know each other more each game we attend.

As an armchair city supporter since 1995, the atmosphere sounded a lot better than it did v Juve.

I can take negative criticism about some things not working, but just to let everyone know 1894 group are the only people actively trying to improve the atmosphere - we've had 3 games in the newly expanded stadium - why not wait until it's 3 seasons and then see what it's like? Just FYI if it wasn't for 1894 group there would already be a brass band in the family stand, we most probably would have goal music and nothing would have been done to encourage any singers into the new sections.

Anyone slagging of the atmosphere from a far needs to get a grip - everyone had the chance to relocate to the singing section and to try and make a difference. So maybe just have a little think about what you're contributing to the noise levels before casting the first stone!

Bollocks ! We use to win sweet FA we got beat week in week out and still the Kippax Roared.
List to the noise at away games !!! - The Fan Base .

People are more critical nowadays and the expectations are higher. Many games at MR were nothing special atmosphere wise. Standing helped and people being able to move around helped.

Two things :
Get on yor feet and make a din and
Support 1894...they're trying to improve things for the benefit of everyone

Atmosphere was ok yesterday but has lost a bit of intensity. Maybe a bit of 'expectation' has crept back in again
Personally I feel that SS3 could pull their weight a bit more...I thought a load of 'The Boys' had gone up there !!

^this^

I didn't relocate into the designated section for 1894 as there's plenty of people stood singing in 111/112 as there has been for years now but 1894 made the option very much visible to relocate if you wanted to make a racket amongst like minded Blues.

And make a racket we have this season. It's loud.

Those who think differently need to up their hearing aids as my ears are ringing now after games.

If only the thousands in CB and ES were making just as much of an effort then we would be noticed!
