Sir Michael Parkinson dies aged 88

Rip Parky, the best tv presenter in my lifetime. Have fond memories of his legendary interviews with Billy Conollly and Muhammad Ali. One of Yorkshire's finest.
 
A sad loss for his family, friends and the wider British television community. He was a giant in the 70s and 80s, and was undoubtedly the king of the talk shows. He was good at what he did, very good. Have to be honest, though; he wasn't my cup of tea, really. But then, I'm not a huge fan of the chat show genre anyway.

As others have said, another part of our childhood gone.

Also, as others have said, the way he managed to get (the vast majority) of his guests to actually speak was a credit to him

I was recently watching an interview recently between him and Noel Gallagher and he managed to get Gallagher to speak on a level, I've never seen before when Parky was quizzing Noel about his dad.
