Size of Celtic and Rangers compared to top English clubs

No it’s not. It’s a term describing Rangers fans of all faiths. Rangers fans seem to think because they are Rangers fans they are also Prodestants (yes, some do spell it that way) I have known many over the years. I knew one who refused to be support Scotland in the opening WC game in 98 due to the amount of “Fenians” in the tea, So he came into pub with a brazil top on, this is how smart some Huns are ( he never went to church, ever, and considers himself a staunch proddy)

Yes It is. If it's just Rangers fans why is it also used for other clubs.

Support wise.
Absolutely massive .
As big as any Club in the world especially celtic.
But they play in a pointless tin pot league
Are they? They don’t register in the Top 11 for shirt sales worldwide

There used to be some feisty Altrincham Sunday league derbies between Pelican Celtic and Pelican Rangers back in the day.

They both have strong local support but little overseas interest, I imagine. Due to being in a nothing league and being crap I suppose, not necessarily in that order. Could change in a better league with some investment, but that isn't going to happen.

Rangers and Celtic have a loyal worldwide fanbase, go to a lot of cities and tourist resorts in the world and you'll be able to find a Rangers or Celtic bar, but that popularity worldwide is mostly due to ex pats.

Because of the league they are in, they just didn't explode when the EPL did, so you won't see millions of locals in Africa, Asia Scandanavia etc supporting them, wearing their shirts or following then on feckin Facebook or Instagram the same way the top English teams do.

Rangers and especially Celtic were huge abroad in the 1960s,70s, and 80s, in countries with strong Irish/Scottish heritage communities. But that generation has died off now and their children in places like Canada mostly follow English football. Both clubs haven't helped themselves off the pitch. It is very difficult to market businesses with such sectarian baggage. This has held them back and another problem is the decline in Scottish football. Very few people watch it.
