Sjoke throw-ins next week - any ideas how to sort them?

Our defense will be fine. The throw is predictable if they can't handle it we don't deserve to win.

We need to focus on scoring goals. We lost vs Everton and West Ham gave us trouble because we couldn't put the ball in the back on the net when we should have. If we score 3 (as we should have in the last two games), we win.

At the semi he could barely get it in the area? just about reached the penalty spot on one occasion, we should be fine. pitch is fookin massive anyway compared to stokes 7 a side pitch

the amount of time that is taken up preparing for these throws is a joke, each one takes about the same time as a goal kick - when they beat us in the cup last season, the ball was only in play for about 7 minutes.

City's management should start putting pressure on the ref now for him to clamp down on the time wasting aspect of it all..

Ive played on the Britannia stadium and was astounded as to how narrow it was. With Wembley having a reputation as being massive, itll help us in the sense of Delaps throw ins but also it will assist our game more than theirs, they rely on a compact pitch and a close battle rather than players with space.

Haven't they only scored 4 goals from a long throw this season? Stoke's free kicks/corners are statistically much more dangerous. I hope we don't focus too much on the throw in and ignore these.

Stoke's pitch is 100 by 64 metres , Wembley is 105 × 69 m. Personally I would leave three players on the half way line, Silva, De Jong and AN other forcing them to leave four plus the keeper back. One player taking the throw leaves only five in the area meaning more room for Joe to come and clear the ball. As soon as we bring everyone back that means at least another six players in a small space all pushing and shoving.

you just keep fretting over the throw :)

Not really been part of our game lately.

This is true , when Stoke played arsenal , their team were set up in two banks of four pushed in narrow and with the pitch being so narrow itself , arsenal had no room at all to manoeuvre. Wembley is a much bigger pitch , and I assume we will have a lot more of the ball and pass it around which means they will have to chase the ball a lot and work even harder. However , with Pennant and possibly Etherington , they will have a lot more room on the wings on a wider pitch which we would need to sort. The throw will be negated to an extent and we should control the game really , tire them out then hit them with quick football .
