Slovakia vs England - Euro 2016 - 20/06/16

Totally agree it he has no idea his best side, he might know his preferred 11 but it looks like he is trying to accomodate players in the 11 rather than picking his best side.
He is selecting players and then asking them to do a job they are not used to, quite why you pick Sturridge and play him wide right is beyond me, we need to pick a team not individuals.
Our midfield is all over the place apart from Dier, who has been very good playing in a position he's used to playing as for the rest well, Rooney is a converted striker and it shows with his positioning, Alli just plays where he wants, Lallana a headless chicken holding no position sense, Henderson anther who thinks about himself more than the team runs everywhere and nowhere, Wilshire is short of fitness but at least he is available to receive the ball where he should be, you look at our midfield shape and we would not get a touch against a good side.

The last time I held any affinity towards my club was back in 2004.....and it was slowly dying them. The actual last time I loved watching us play was back at Italia 90

This team has no character whatsoever, we are poor and when we come up against a team that knows how to attack the it will be the same old story. When the build up to the game lauds smelling as the finest English centre back them bloody hell that says it all

We'll. If Sterling had played as badly as Vardy or Sturridge he'd have been lynched by now.

I thought Dier was the only shining light in the gloom last night, that kid is awesome, was Vardy taken off after he missed the sitter, just asking as I didn't see him touch the ball once after that?

really pleasing to know smalling is going to be in the rag back 4

With Rooney trying to play quarter back balls that end up in the 20th row of the stand. What was Roy's thinking in trying to get a goal last night? Packed defence ball needed moving quickly so he puts Rooney on. When was the last time Rooney changed a game for his club never mind the national team in a tournament?

Passed it backwards too much and too slowly last night though.

I'm still struggling to understand how Wayne Rooney is now playing as a central midfielder at an international tournament. The guy doesn't have any of the attributes required to play that position at this standard, yet there he is charging around wherever the fuck he likes and generally slowing everything down with wrong decision after wrong decision.

What's even more disturbing is that plenty of pundits and fans see this charade and hail him as some sort of midfield genius. But I guess he's got to be shoehorned into proceedings somehow in order to appease the publicity-seeking whores at the FA. Won't be long before he's cheerleading from the bench in a suit like that other exalted rag Beckham did in South Africa.

Think England look quite good when playing teams who are willing to be expansive, so teams such as France/Germany further down the line shouldn't be the greater concern. Getting past a more organized team (Hungary/Iceland) to reach that stage, however, could be more problematic. Teams will have seen that there is no real guile in midfield, so a disciplined performance could see it go the distance.
