Smacking your kids

I really didn't know that smacking kids was still a thing, I mean I thought it disappeared years ago.
My dad smacked us and we got the cane at school.
I never smacked my kids, never felt the need to.

I was smacked as a kid and don't blame my parents. But nor do I think it made the slightest bit of difference to my behaviour.

I've heard the argument that if you were beaten as a child, you're less likely to administer corporal punishment later on (to your own kids when you get older and have them) cos you know how much it stung when it happened to you.
My mum and dad got smacked off their parents and teachers.. belted red, caned and chalk board rubbered etc. i was never ever smacked, that's probably why I always batter my own kids
