smoking at games

Good.

Now if they can start to make a dent in those retards in the bogs we are getting somewhere.

I mean...if you must smoke then good luck to you but do you have to stand right next to the fkn urinal so the people who actually want a piss can't have one.

Personally, I'd shut the toilet doors, throw a load of tobacco in and set light to the place and let em die happy. It's fkn disgusting and the major reason I'll never take my little un to a game til its sorted.

Smoking in all indoor public places is banned. Many places - such as cinemas and public transport - have rarely permitted smoking in recent years, and now places like pubs, restaurants, nightclubs and private members' clubs will not be able to permit customers to smoke inside.

You also can't smoke in offices or any workplace; except if you work by yourself. You can't smoke in a company vehicle that is used by several people; even if they are not in it at the time.

Smoking is still be banned at certain outdoor locations that are 'substantially enclosed', such as football grounds and covered walkways. It is also banned on all parts of a railway station, even open-air platforms.

Those in charge of the premises would be fools to let you get away with it, especially considering that they could face a £2,500 fine if they fail to stop you. They could also be charged on-the-spot fines of £200 if they fail to display no-smoking signs, with the penalty increasing to £1,000 if the issue goes to court.

indifferent weather people smoke or not at games. But am abit miffed how the club are treating the issue of people smoking. having witnessed the trouble that was caused by the strong arm tactics of ejecting a man with a walking stick on sunday. surely the club should come up with a better idea of dealing with the issue.
Don't know what it is lke around other parts of the ground but on the ground level (block110) Just as you go into the toilets on the right is an emergency exit gate and on the left are just metal bars. Couldn't the club open up these and build a fenced in extension so people would be in effect stood outside. leave open one turnstile with a steward on with a handheld scanner who can scan you out and back in.

rules is rules.

Some little Hitler though being a complete jobsworth.

But it is not just rules from the club it is the country law - I don't understand why anyone gets upset about this because it is 90mins or 120 tops without a smoke. If I smoked and felt the urge during a game, it would not be in my seat.

Not upset. I personally am a non smoker. I'd have thought a little tact was in order though. Tell him to put it out and if spotted again then out. I have no doubt the lad knew he couldn't smoke, these are not new laws.

I have read posts like this many times both before and after my operations.I still want to smoke after all thats happened to me and my family but wont because of what happened.I hope those that do smoke keep it to themselves and not inflict it on others. You always, like i did.think that it won,t happen to me but it did and Cancer makes you think. Please be thoughtful of others

Every time this issue raises it's head it's the same old story, all the high and mighty non smokers just can't wait to vent their fury and self rightious attitudes and bash those dirty, filthy, skanky, people who deserve in their opinion to be tarred and feathered. I'm sure if they could get those inflicted with this henious habit thrown into prison or publicly humiliated in the stocks, they would go home really happy with themselves.

Now in this case, though I'm a smoker and would fight tooth and nail for reasonable rights and for not having to accept being the only social group in Europe who it seems can be publicly abused and victimised, having their rights infringed and reduced year after year, but I must say that the individual concerned here, if English, an adult and not suffering from any mental incapacity, can have little grounds for feeling anything but responsibility for his own stupidity and the resulting actions.

The smoking bans in this country also apply in all other EEC nations along with many others including places like Turkey, so unless this guy is from tibet or borneo I find it hard to believe he was unaware of the rules, regulations and laws of the land.

What his actions and ignorant behaviour does do however, is increase the chance of an all round ban, and stricter actions of enforcement, which are to a certain degree eased, to some extent, and in my mind rightly in the case of the spirals.

I don't think there are any people other than those extremists I mentioned in the first paragraph, who have any problem with those of us who specifically make our way, away from others who do not want to be infected/affected by our habit, to well ventilated areas, such as the spirals, and this slight inconvenience to us, is well worth our trouble so we can top up our nicotine levels during half time.

There are other rules which the club show some lenience with ie standing in the all seater environment, which within reason is found generally acceptable, though again, to the letter of the law, unlawfull.

I wish those responsible for trying to spoil it for evryone, by either smoking in the toilets or in any other clearly unsuitable ares would consider not just the non smokers, but also the smokers, who generally feel it's fair enough to make the short jaunt to the nearest spiral, to enjoy a tab and not end up gagging for a fag at the frinal whistle.
