Smoking

I always get pestered for cheap cigarettes when I go on holiday but refuse. I’d like to think I’m doing them a favour.

Dad was a heavy smoker and died of cancer in his late forties. I was 13. He never lived to see his daughter marry and give him a grandson. He also never saw his only son grow up to be a bit of a useless tosser.

Gave up properly at Christmas. Before that I was just paying lip service to the notion.

Seeing as part of my cancers is in the lung it would seem I was being a dick. It's not lung cancer it's cancer that's in my lungs. What a twat. I gave up 8 years ago and only started again a year ago. Then the cancers kicked in and I should have stopped straight away. Stubborn twat.
You’ve done brilliant mate, don’t forget you’re trying to quit a drug (nicotine) that’s more potent than heroin so don’t be too harsh on yourself, and carry on.

Put my last ciggy out at 08:10 on the 24th January 2004.

Not had any desire to start again. I smell it on people and think, "did I smell like that?"

I wasn't a heavy smoker but had been at it since an early age. Started when I was about 6. Used to go raiding the bins at the Poco-A-Poco club for Park Drive inserts: You could get the Rothman's Year Book with them. Obviously, would find some ciggies in the packs and, well, puff and choke away!

I gave up on February 11th 2001, it’s strange how you never forget the day you quit.

They allow smoking in bars in Germany as long as they’re not serving food. For me, it was always part and parcel of being in a pub but, then again, Roy Castle died of lung cancer despite never smoking in his life. He played trumpet in bars where people smoked all night.
