Snooker

That may be the case statistically, but I’d put him there already personally.
Yeah everyone has their favourites and I'm not much of a follower of snooker since Jummy White stopped being good. At the end of the day to seal the deal he could do with grabbing another one.

He's won more ranking tournaments than anyone else. He's had a career longevity that surpasses anyone else. Hendry, for instance, had more or less thrown the towel in at 40.
He's got nowt to prove. He's the best player we've ever had the pleasure of watching.
You can turn that around though the longer his career the more world championships you would expect the goat to have won.

Like Jack and Tiger it's a debate that can be argued about forever and a day.

Jack was the best mind as he won more majors:-)

Good analogy.
Ronnie could have potentially won more, granted. But there are reasons he didn't, and they're nothing to do with snooker.
But that aside, I take your point, if we're not taking into account personal circumstances, I'd still say he is the GOAT.

Ronnie is technically the greatest ever. Can play any shot and is good enough to be playing in the top 16 playing with his weak hand thats how gifted he is. If he can keep applying the work rate he has a few more World titles in him.

I think Davis Hendry and even Reardon dominated the game more in their prime. Talent is only one part of being a champion. Things like dedication professionalism and mental strength all come into it. As time passes sport pretty much always becomes better so basing it on ability alone is somewhat unfair.

The 10th best British runner probably runs faster than Jesse owens did. In fact hundreds of people have. Doesn't make them better in terms of achievement.

I have a feeling Ronnie could have won double figures world crowns but he didn't. Hopefully he will get another. Certainly more entertaining than the 2 Steve's who were brilliant in their own way.

Yes the 3 you quoted dominated, sure, but only for a short time.(and I enjoyed watching them all btw)
Ronnie has enjoyed a longer career, and its not over yet.
Horses for courses I guess.
