If that's what you believe, OK.He, like Pellegrini, does believe a 2 works therefore constantly finds other reasons for us being shite when we play that system & other reasons for us being better when we don't.

The OP's post is indeed a top post. Funnily enough my friend and I have just solved this same problem with our son's Under 10's team. It's been a problem all season at City when we play a midfield two and, yes, it results in us regularly getting ripped a new one!! I'm sure Pep will deal with this but it is, and has been, a very obvious issue for quite a while.
This is all fine and good in theory. And perhaps we'll be unbeatable if we had the above. But as a form of comparison, who was shited's pitbull yesterday? Carrick? Shneiderlien? Mata? Lingaard? They really didn't have one. But everyone 'worked' on both sides of the ball. We have a players who don't.We need a three in midfield depending on who we are playing, and one of them has to be a semi-trained pitbull, of the de Jong species of pitbull. And the semi-trained pitbull has to be starting every game regardless of who we are playing.
Again I repeat, we played the exact same formation as they did. They have as many softies as we do, yet they defended well when we had it, and we seemed always open when they did. Why is that?

Simply has to be a midfield 3 the rest of the season. Pellegrini needs to be sat down and fucking shown/told this by Kidd, Txiki, Ruben and the "state of the art" opponent analysis team we seem to have.

Great post, the opposition seem to stroll through us a lot of the time. I don't think we work hard without the ball either. We seem un-fitter than most.

Also when we are attacking everything seems all too tight. We have players in space but we try and play fancy one,twos with a marked
player. Defender gets toe in and off they go. Nearly every player in the team, sold down the river.

Pick a starting 11, any 11, and with the exception of maybe Nacho and Nando, I bet 9 or 10 of those 11 have been or are currently injured. Never a settled line up. Couple that with the manager's stubbornness to play the midfield 2, and average squad signings, it all makes for a perfect shit storm. I am surprised we are still 5th to be fair. Only scored in one game out of last 5!! After the really good, solid away games in Europe many of us were thinking the penny had dropped with MP. How wrong we were. We need our mojo back proto. And a midfield!
