Wrong, Wrong, Wrong.

With the exception of perhaps West Ham at home Hughes didn't really have one convincing victory in all his management.

No-one has hammered Stoke this year. Arsenal? Scrappy 2-0. Villa? Scrappy 1-0. Tottenham? Lost 1-0. Ours was as convincing a win as any have had over Stoke this year with the exception of Liverpool.

New manager,3 points taken in a game the media were begging for us to lose after us being enveloped in a horrendous Kaka-like shitstorm of negativity all week.
Two goals scored against a team with ten American football players behind the ball in the first half.
No goals conceded-comedy or otherwise.
The defence looking like they actually knew each other's names.
Gareth Barry playing the way we all know he can,rather than like a modern Ray Wilkins.
Three academy lads on the bench.
Petrov returning to do what we know he can when he's given the chance.
A "makeshift" team looking like....well,a team.

Tactics.

So apart from that....not many positives...

We took our chances which were few,they missed or Shay saved.
Poor 1st half, Tevez was awesome & gets a 9 for me.
A bit better,he won't start with the team he started with & thank fuck they tried to play football rather than the air route until the 2nd half.
That's the game summed up in a nutshell.
 
In the south stand concourse at half time did anybody see that young lad collapse and be carried into the stoke side by police??
 
The return of Gareth Barry's form, knits everything together for us. Retain possession, takes the pressure off, gives us control of the match. When he was on form early in the season putting in performances like yesterday we were winning regularly, his form drops off we stop winning, now he starts playing again and we win comfortably.
