So, if we don't win the Prem..

If we only win the league cup its a massive failure, so that would be the same trophies as Swansea last season, think we have to aspire to more than that.

We have to win the league, got by far the best starting eleven but the weakest manager out of the top 4 but all to play for.

It will be a failure if we don't win the league this year . Lets face it Pellergrini got a better squad this year than Mancini had last year . I know we have had injuries but Pellergrini has been at fault for his tactics in away games . And playing his favourite centre back Martin Demichelis . Bloody hell this season we should be running away with the title .

Interesting point. We would definitely have won the league with Mourinho in charge. I mean he's probably gonna win it with a far inferior team. More interesting is whether we would be doing better with Rodgers or Wenger.

Yes - a qualified failure.

We made progress in Europe and won the COC so there is mitigation. But taking into account the cost of the squad, the quality of our players and the standard of our rivals, failing to win the PL would be an under-achievement.

Given the collapse of the reigning champions (snigger), together with Chelsea and Arsenal's obvious flaws, this was the "easiest" title tilt we could have had. Furthermore, the FA Cup has been pissed away when it looked a real possibility.

We have had some great moments, though, and it's been a thrilling season at times.

Who cares?

The only people who talk in terms of success/failure is the outside world.

We, the fans, pay our season tickets etc... to be entertained on a weekend and if at the end of the season, we win, it's a bonus.

That we have approached this season with an attempt to develop towards playing on the front foot is admirable and correct.

We will be better placed for when we sign the CB partner for Kompany than we would have been if we'd played 2 defensive midfielders and sat deeper to cover the gap in defence.

Stop it 6one... You're being far too sensible for this thread.

(+1 for the post by the way)

Let us not forget that we have lost key players at crucial times. Yer can't simply count up the pounds and pence and match it against the weight of silver. We have had a tremendous season, not wholly, or holistically, successful, and for a few unfortunate instances and some arseholes with whistles, it could have been historic.

with our squad only winning the capital one cup would be a shite season IMO!!

We MUST win the prem.. - Win the prem and with the COC already in the trophy cabinet i think its been a bloody good season with a half decent champs league run too

But it all hinges on the prem.. if pelle fails to win it be interesting to see if he keeps his job or if he'll be pushed out the door?? - thoughts?

You really should start a thread on that subject. I think it would provoke some interesting discussion on here.

Just sayin' like...

I would take Rodgers and Wenger over Mourinho though.

Mourinho would guarantee success but the football Chelsea play in comparison to us, Liverpool and Arsenal is nowhere near as exciting in my opinion, we just have to get the blend right so that we can play pretty but win trophies with it, Guardiola at the moment is the master at it.

I think it's a bigger achievement trying to win it playing entertaining football, plus the rewards are greater because instead of living for that moment at the end of the season you get great memorable moments throughout the season instead of your average 1-0 or 2-1's every week.

If we win the PL this year we can add looking back on the results as well that got us the trophy in years to come like Spurs home and away, United and Arsenal at home etc.. I dont think Chelsea will if they win the league.

Yes, it's about winning trophies but at least try and play entertaining football in winning those trophies, it's about getting the thrill throughout the season and not just at the end of the season when you lift the trophy, that's my opinion anyway.
